BLACK STOMPGRIP TANK PAD DUCATI 1098 09-11 848 08-11 & STREETFIGHTER STOMP-GRIPS | eBay I often find my skinny arse sliding into the tank on the 1098 and am now considering the above. Sure, doesn't look nice but under heavy braking, could help a lot! Anyone used them with any opinions?
I have clear ones on my 848. Highly recommended. You get good grip with the inside of your legs. Do you have DP seat pad ? I dont have one myself but it would also help you from sliding forward. Good luck
Excellent. I use the clear. Had them on my GSXR and was converted. Now I am probably the onlt Multi with them. Just brilliant under heavy braking, Also more secure when you're hanging off. Give them a go...
Got them in my track set up - cant fault them... And the adhesive is that sticky stuff that doesn't actually "set" so it won't mark your paint......
Same as most of the others, they are fantastic. They are especially good when you become oblivious to them and you then realise how much better you are riding as a result of your improve knee grip, better concentration, less weight on wrists, balls not crushed bla bla bla The glue is a gel like glue that doesn't set.
I used these on my monster and they were great. Didn't half make the bike look ugly though but function over form and all that!
the first thing I do to any of my bikes, if you are using it on track go for stomp grip over tech spec. the adhesive is made my 3m and comes off easily if you heat up the stomp grip with a hair drier, as above though I dont know why you would ever want to remove!
I've got a DP seat pad which really improved things. There's not a lot of padding there so you loose a bit of comfort on the longer rides. Stomp grip is great and I've tried it on track bikes but haven't yet had the heart to stick it on my 848. They do get a bit dirty and I've seen some discolour but as pointed out if its removable without any damage to the paint then no worries. May stick some on for the next CSS.
If by the next CSS you mean L3, you might find you need to. that was an eye opener! remember they sell them at Css but the adhesive takes 24 hours to cure properly, better to fit in advance edit - have you got the neoprene type seat? i find the footpeg to tank distance a little long for locking into the bike, looking at modding the stock footpeg to provide more support. was hoping the DP seat might be a little taller sitting on the bike to assist?
The original dp seat is a bit thinner than stock, but I think the superpole one is about the same, if not a fraction thicker. Matt
Confusing that CSS UK recommend Stromp Grip, CSS USA recommend TechSpec Snake Skin. Went for the latter as it does less damage to leathers, and they cost around the same. TechSpec USA Stomp Design
The neoprene DP seat I have is thinner than the standard either because it's got a little less foam or the foam type is 'squishier'. Haven't come across the superpole version yet.
Stompgrips are a must have imho on all my bikes, road and track. They improve your bike control, body positioning, and reduce fatigue on your arms over distance. Certainly helps avoid crushed nads under heavy braking too!
Stomp grips are great - I don't like trying to go fast on track without them. I've pulled them off, stuck them on some backing and had the tank repainted and stuck them back on - no probs. And stuck them on whilst warming the bike up for a session and gone straight out, no curing required. It was a racebike, not a shiny roadbike though so definitely about function and not form.
I noticed my leathers are marking the paint on the tank and fairing so am looking at getting stompgrips. Anyone have any pictures of theirs on a 1098/848/1198 please? I cannot decide if I want clear or black.
