Does anyone else suffer from extreme chain gunk on the right hand exhaust? I just cleaned mine up with autosol, took it to the garage to get some fuel, and by the time I got back (5miles) it looks like this: Stupidly I lubed the chain just after I cleaned the exhaust, but is there anything else I can do to stop all the gunk?
That chain looks filthy. Disgraceful. Put less chain lube on, just do it more regular like. My chain is never that filthy. Wait till all the other ladies see that. There'll be gossip.
Clean mine with a can of cleaner and a rag. Spray, wipe, then use Castol racing chain lube but I apply to the inside of the chain only (side that connects with the sprockets). Job done! Still get a bit of fling and still get build up on the exhaust....but not like that!
Haha, brands hatch tomorrow. Already concerned about passing the static noise test at 105dB. Not convinced open pipes would work brilliantly
Lube the chain at the end of a ride, firstly it's better to put it onto a warmed chain, second it will have a chance to stay on too.
Get some brake cleaner to clean all that crap off, apply with a brush and scrub. Dry then apply Wurth dry chain lube, job done no more gunk on the exhaust.
Clean the chain with brake cleaner ! Outside plates only spray it on a rag. Then apply chain wax the day before you want to use it & wipe off the excess. Good luck at brands hope it stays dry ? Cloudy I believe
You'll fail, I'll put a tube of smarties on it! The guy will however give you a concerned look, then pop a pass sticker on and tell you you'll be fine on ride by, which you will be Did Brands in July, blew a 108db on my 1199, sound guy said it'll be fine on ride by and popped a pass sticker on it....and it was Oulton was a little more nervy with the 102db static, still let me on and that was fine too on ride by
So it was probably you and your dirty exhaust that was in our garage yesterday then? It was commented upon!
