:Banghead: My 749 engine managememt light came on when riding today so i stopped turned ignition off then started again only for the bike to start off the key straight away without pressing start button no diagnostic sequence just starts at the turn of the key. No issues when riding doesn't miss a beat. The kill switch kills engine but the bike still trys to turn over and will fire up as soon as kill switch turned off unless ignition turned off The bike runs perfect but just starts on the turn of the key, the bike fires up lovely the dash comes to life just with the engine management light on any ideas
Replace the injector/coil/fuel pump relay. It's a known problem and this £1.99 relay causes no end of problems. I had the same issue on my 999. The relay had been damaged by moisture and Verdi Gris. Unfortunately it is a battery box off job as the relay is behind the heat shield, just below the starter solenoid. There is sufficient wire to relocate it to the top left of the battery box where there is a handy square rubber holder for it go into.
Thanks solved the issue was as stuck starter selonoid its located at bottom of the battery box hopefully new one will sort this not uncommon issue gave it a little tap and it freed itself and bike starts as normal but just on safe side new one ordered. I will also be relocating the relay as mentioned above. Cheers
