Summer Hols - Anything Planned ?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Mattie821, Apr 29, 2023.

  1. Must be the time of year now to be looking forward to a bit of summer holiday action. Can't wait !

Anyone got anything planned ? Trips away on the bike ? At work some people have already started and had cheeky trips away already !!

Original plan for early summer was to ride down to Segovia in Spain and spend a few days riding around the area. But a promise to a client to stop in and see them sometime means I will be going to Switzerland instead to visit their facility.

After that the options are to either head South to Nimes and spend a few days in the area including the Camargue - or go North from Switzerland to the MotoGP at Sachsenring.

    Still not decided.

So let's hear of any trips planned - with or without bikes ...

  4. A 6 day tour through Belgium into Germany as far as The Nurembergring, then back again.
The rest of our summer hols shall be spent in Calahonda, Malaga where hopefully I’ll retire!

  6. Hi Duke, where's that at?

  8. Charente, near Confolens.

  9. Huge distance from my neck of the woods unfortunately.

  10. Where are you?
We chose it for the price and the weather.
House cost less than a mid sized German SUV, ready to live in and came with all the furniture.

  11. Thanks for the offer, I’ll probably ask for some pointers. My brother has a place about 3/4 the way down, so I’ll be going there for a couple of nights, I’m also hoping to do the RDGA, the rest of it I’ll just wing, keeping an eye on the weather each morning and heading where the sun is shining!

  12. I live just North of Toulon, amazing roads and scenery around here, but I have lived here permanently for the last 20 years. Unfortunately house prices are crazy, and the weather is intolerably hot mid summer.

If you happen to end up in this neck of the woods, I'll happily organise a day trip... I've just about worn out my 900ss on the country roads up towards the Verdon, and know some insanely good roads with low traffic and perfect surfaces! :upyeah:

  13. Sounds perfect. Got to get myself a bike out there this year and then see where it takes me but thanks for the offer. It’s one of the areas I want to visit on the bike.

  14. Passed through just over a week ago, took back roads back from in laws house in ‘Bretagne’ for the second half of the journey. I’m about two hours away from you. Dept 19, 19310.

  17. Trip to Cologne for a weekend in mid June. 2 days to get there via the Ardennes and Eifel region. On the Monday one heading back home and self and best mate (on his 996) will decide what were doing until the Thursday when we're booked onto the afternoon eurotunnel. Possibly Bavaria and back through the Vosges... Who knows until we get there.

Possible suggestion after RdGA, which is one of my faves; Route Napoleon, I'd not go all the way to Nice on RdGA, but cut across on some minor roads, to Castallane. Gorge du Verdon, further up Rte N. and then Sarlat and across Mt. Ventoux. Over to the Cevennes and the Gorge du Tarn before heading North.
