Hi All , I have been doing some winter maintenance on my 999 and decided to clean the sump strainer which I presume is of a similar design on most Ducatis . As you can see from the first picture there have been a few scrapes on the strainer holder some old but I know i crunched it when I had a rear wheel puncture , looking at the bottom picture which is taken from the inside there is clearly a crack ! There were no oil leaks so obviously it has been found in plenty of time . Check yours when you have the chance .
Just waiting for the two O rings to turn up at the dealers then I'll be cleaning mine. Thanks for the tip.
