Supercorsa BSB on 1198s

  1. Currently fitted and a bit of life left but not much - will need to change soon

Its a dry day bike for fast road use - I am aware they are crap in the damp - what are general opinions on them on dry days and what alternatives are there?

I was on my 748s a couple of weeks ago on Diablo Corsa IIIs and the very cold tarmac made them feel like they had no grip ! I like these tyres otherwise and they feelpretty good to me on the 748s in the dry

  2. Sounds like overkill for the road, to be honest. Track tyres on the road aren't the liability they used to be, but even so I doubt you'll ever get the tyres warm enough on the road to operate at their optimum. I'd be looking at something more road-biased.

  3. I run them, one of if not the best fast road tyre you can get IMO! All my customers who run them love them too. Some tyre centres are saying (Guildford tyre for example) they are no longer available but that's BULL they also told one of my customers they are not for highway use....lol when people talk total bull best to just walk away IMO.....lol

That said I don't think anyone can out ride any of the modern line up of tyres on the road I also use for example PowerPures on my blade, just as good as BSBs grip wise and also good in the wet not that I ride it in the wet, however if like me you like an egg shape tyre profile for maximum contact patch at full lean BSBs are the way to go...

  4. On a similar theme, Metzeller Racetec K2 are sublime in the right conditions. Awesome on a warm, sunny, fast ride.

But don't even think about going out unless you can push a little heat into them in the corners.

  5. Excellent - will 'stick' with them - liked the SC pros on my trackbike and am thinking if they are a slightly more road orientated version then job jobbed! I wont outride them I know that !
Just out of interest what pressures are you running on them and what are you aiming for as a hot pressure?

  6. Supercorsa BSB is a road bias compound, I had a set a couple of years ago and they do seem to last quite well. My out going tyres are Power Ones they have lasted really well considering they are more of a track tyre.

I liked them so much I have a new set ready to fit

  7. I have the Supercorsa SP's on my 1198, only done 400 miles at the back of last year so not really had chance to use them properly

  8. I have been running SuperCorsa SPs this past year on the 1098R. The rear has only lasted 1000 miles and are about 0.5mm from the wear bars on the mid-radius, although the centre appears to have more tread. In the off season, they have also blued so it is time to change them. They offer tremendous feel and grip in the dry which I would like to keep.

Does the BSB version last longer or offer significantly reduced grip in comparison to the SPs?

Alternatively, I may swap over to the Rosso Corsas which I had a good experience of on my previous bike - very good in the wet, and plenty enough on track too.

  9. The blue will go with a ride, I asked P...... if the compound of SP and BSB are the same and he said yes. SP = special production and BSB = clelerbration of involvement in the British super bikes (for those who don't know).

They don't last long on the R and you have to keep an eye on them as when down towards the ware bar the rubber often starts to peal off the carcass of the tyre before they are at the bar. :)

  10. Yes, the blue does go, but sadly the oils that kept the rubber supple have gone and the tyre definitely feels harder to the touch and on the road. SP and BSB compound the same? Then why the separate tyres in the line up?

  11. Good question and my point for asking, also the price hike! I run the SP myself.. My guess would be the BSB is a limited edition tyre that for some reason is still in production, where the SP is constant run??

  12. I use the Metzler interact k3's which are the road compound excellent warm up and wear rates for a track/road tyre, used them on the blade for Cadwell park and they were amazing as they are on the road, ok in the damp and rain in my experience.

Not the cheapest but I love them, also Dunlop sports smarts get a very good rep from all my mates :)

  13. Big +1 on the sportsmarts. Really good on the road and track. I got 4k out of a set.

  14. had to ditch the Diablo III on aragon as they started sliding twice in stint 3 ... :(
have ridden the SC now in the freezing cold and could not get the TCS to flickr once! So much for needing them to be boiling hot!
the 1K is barely visible.. if i weren't gpoing for slicks, i'd keep them!

fast is fast and then any bit of grip is very welcome, no?

  15. I found them as good as slicks on track, enough for damp/cold days but forget the wet, its trundle home slowly time
