Superlight Clutch Plates

  1. As the title says... Just got it and it seems it turning into a bit of a project, stripped out the clutch and there are 15 clutch plates in total, workshop manual shows ten, so am a bit confused, when the bike arrived the slave was almost empty so have tried bleeding but no pressure so far, push rod is slightly scoured on the plate end im thinking the master has blown a seal, can't see if there is any fluid around the front sprocket as there is so much grease, dirt and crap.
Need to know how many plates there should be as a starting point.

Don't you just love Ducatis !!!!

  2. This is the slave that most people seem to fit....
    Ducati Clutch Slave Cylinders

I'm not sure that a slave seal kit is available but a call to MotoRapido might confirm one way or the other.

Also, does the pushrod move or has it seized?

  3. full kit's available Al - piston and seal and housing all separate parts, the whole unit all said and done comes to around 75 quid if you wanted to stay original with a new Slave cylinder.

  4. Hey Al, push rod is now removable but it took some doing, it's quite worn at the plate end and I'm not sure about the seals, just spoke to Snells and they can do one for 18 quid, the slave end was caked in crap n grease which is making it difficult to diagnose if it's leaking through the seals.
Quite frustrating what the previous owner has done, it has a gold brembo break Lever/ assembly but a standard clutch side, why not do both ???
Looks really odd so will look for the clutch side, think the original is goosed anyway along with the slave.
Just to let you know the clutch should have 16 plates in total according to Snells and I oNly have 15, like I said I finding it frustrating that people with a bike like this just leave it to rot and do nothing to it for two years.
Guess there loss is my gain....I hope
