Spotted this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-Su...230422?hash=item2f04b1e596:g:oOkAAOSwTM5Y1iv7 Now I do appreciate this is a bike for sale on ebay, but it's not the point of my thread... I had no idea that Ducati were going to release for sale un-numbered 1199 SLs, over and above the 500 numbered units that were produced. This bike is for sale at around £10,000 less than a numbered SL, 0 miles and probably with warranty too. This is a bit similar to the press 996R's that were un-numbered and eventually sold by the factory. I'm not an owner of an SL1, but I can imagine this will have an impact on residuals of the 1199 version, especially if a number are released in to that market. Very interesting...
If, as the seller claims, it's 'unique' surely that makes it more valuable than a normal numbered one... (I may have misread this somewhere!)
I know the press bikes and some show pieces were numbered as XXX/500. I'm just surprised that Ducati sold them as it does, to a point, devalue the product and exclusivity in the eyes of some. same bike, different price....
It's not unique, there were 2 xxx/500 press/show bikes in Moto Rapido a couple of weeks ago for a workshop check over and Ducati Worx was advertising one for sale last year. I'm with Bullitt, not sure how/why these bikes were sold to the public. Andy
I have spotted a few of these for sale, this actually looks good value compared to a numbered one! Surely this will have done form of impact on numbered ones? Beautiful bike
The one in the video Nelson posted in the thread below is a XXX/500 one - https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1299-superleggera.52174/#post-930858
