picked up my panigale today and had a pretty tough ride from Cardiff to London from the dealer in the pouring rain, still had the silly grin all the way home. I've had a couple of dukes before (748 and 749s) and within 2mins of leaving the dealership I knew that termi's were needed and ordered almost right away. BUT the Panigale sounds lovely from the factory, never for a moment thought that it woudl be loud enough - but it sounds great in my view! Still desperately need to order a tail tidy!
Stock cans do sound good, but the way the butterfly valve closes at certain revs to quieten to sound annoys me. The up map with race cans/system bypass this so the valve stays open all the time, best with baffles out!! Although I know of a few people who have simply unhooked the servo cable to keep the valve open without triggering the engine management light like you would get if you unplugged it. Enjoy.
thanks, interesting tip - will look into that. I know there is a wierd spot around 3k where everything seems to go quiet, but I was told this is some kind of emmissions or sound trick to get approvals somewhere.
That be the valve closing to reduce noise, will happen when the engine is warm and around 30mph at a constant throttle, you can thank EU regs for that! BMW s1000r has on too, and I think maybe the newer aprillia rsv4 as well.
I'll definitely be disconnecting the cable from the exhaust valve, a google search shows many others seem to have had good experiences with this without any negative impacts! Thanks for the tip
