1199 Suspension Set Up

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Teztec, Jul 1, 2014.

  1. Looking for advice on what setting to run the rear suspension ,flat or progressive ?
Mine set Flat at the mo.

Also anyone had any dealings with Race Lab in Wimborne Dorset
They seem to be the nearest suspension guys to me,if a little expensive at £99

  2. I would recommend Darren at mct transformed my 1199 S, mines in progressive ,actually moves now, give him a call worth it ,

  3. Cheers Jimmy,
I have read good things of MCT
But a little to far for me
    While running in .
I'm going to go with JHP,
Just need to book it now but going to cost £157 set up
And if the rear spring requires replacing another £70:Bored:
But money well spent if the end results compliant suspension

  4. I had the suspension set up last week
Paul at Race Lab done the work,
    I weigh 13 stone,
Not really had time to get out and try it ,so going reserve judgement till I done a few miles.
Figures in brackets was how the bike was set up when I rode in.
He would have liked more adjustment on the front rebound .

  5. I had JHP do mine last year. 3000 miles later the bike still rides perfectly.

Lots of different views so the best thing is to find a trusted mechanic/dealer who listens to what you want to achieve.

Apart from changes to the basic settings I also changed to my spring rates, oil level, etc. Best money I ever spent.

BTW I run my rear 'F'. I did try 'P' but felt its a cheaters way to soften the rear when actually you need to be looking at spring rates, etc. With the correct setup 'F' is epic unless of course you have a pillion.

  6. I changed mine to "P" before I went out on Sunday morning
    I think P means Pogo !!!
I'm 14 st so with leathers & kit on that most fail to calculate I'm probably 15.5 on the bike & I still think the rear spring is too stiff.

  7. Just had ours done with Paul at Race Lab....

  8. I've tried both F and P without any specialist set up. F was fine P was pogo!

  9. Mine set on flat
    The bikes definitely more compliant
    Since Paul set up.
It's not night and day ,but better.
The more I ride it the more I appreciate the work Paul done.
    Well worth a £100

  10. Hi. I tried to change mine from F to P. Was happy in F as i like stiff suspension but i ride 2up and manual warns to change it to P... anyway, while screwing back the top screw it panched the bracket through on the suspension tripod. Had to take to metropolice Barnet. They never heard of changing to P thing...
What i am asking is that when the link is i P it looks precariously screwed out with two week points on the screw where nudges are. Also, because the link is sitting deeper inside the tripod, attached to the furthest screw hole, it looks that there is more chance for it to get it pinched in the bracket thus snapping the link which is thing as it is. Also, the fact the screw got snaped and broke the bracket whel being screwed in with not much torque does not inspired much confidence.
    Any thoughts guys?
