Suspension

  1. Thought I’d try it in this forum as I’ve had no response in the suspension one.

When I’m riding my 950 RVE my right hand is going to sleep after about 15 minutes which means I have to keep rolling off to shake it off (clearly not ideal on a road). I’ve just fitted some grip puppies which are supposed to absorb a lot of the vibration and stop it from happening. I’m also going to try and drop the tyre pressures by 1-2 psi. I’ve just attempted to soften the front up from the factory settings slightly by taking off a couple of clicks of compression but there’s no clicks when I make the adjustment. I’ve done it by quarter turns from the base setting but why would there not be any clicks? Every bike I’ve owned when you make suspension adjustments there has been clicks that you can count. Does this mean there is an issue with the internals or is this normal for the Marzocchi forks? Never owned a Ducati before or had this make of forks? Having read through the manual it also states that compression and rebound adjustments should have clicks. It’s back in to the dealer this weekend to have the LH switchgear replaced after the main beam switch fell off so I could ask them to look at the forks then as well. Cheers

  2. I rode a 2019 demo 950 Hyper before buying my 2018 939 and there was/is nothing vibey about the RH grip on either. Is it a hand/wrist ailement that's manifesting itself 'cos of the grip/bars angle, etc? It took me a while to be able to relax my right hand on the throttle 'cos of the on/off nature of it. Could be a matter of finding a more comfy way to hold it.

  3. Yeah it could quite possibly be. Strange though as I’ve never had it before. I understand what you’re saying though. My left hand is alway fine and it’s only on the motorbike it happens. Doesn’t happen when I’m driving, spinning so thought I’d try a few things. I’ve tried to make sure I’m relaxing on the throttle but it’s still happening. Perseverance is the key I suppose to find that perfect position. I’d still like to find out if the forks are correct though, because the manual description would lead me to believe they’re not.

  4. Hi, I have to agree with Keith_P. I had an 821 Hyper, now sadly replaced, run a Scrambler and also Piaggio scooter. If I am not careful on any of these I have the same problem. Gets bad enough that braking can be a real challenge. I have learnt to continually make small adjustments to my grip so as to change the angle between m hand and arm/wrist and that solves, but 10 minutes of inattention and it is back. It's better with the Scrambler due to the seating position, but still an issue.

Grip puppies may help, never tried them. For me it's not a vibration issue. With a bit of patience you will find a comfortable position.

Good luck! The Hypers are a blast. Really miss mine
