Kawasaki factory team of Rea, Haslam and Razgatlioglu re instated in first place after appeal. An accident for Rea on the last lap caused the race to be red flagged. Initially, the team factory were penalised for not returning the bike to the pits within the time limit, just like Sykes in WSB but unlike Sykes, the decision was reversed on appeal to the obvious disappointment of the factory Yamaha team of Lowes, Van der Mark and Nagasuka. I’m sure that’ll run and run. Tommy Bridewell, Bradley Ray and Hideyuki Ogata came a creditable 8th. Andy
I’m assuming they red flagged before Rae crashed, or seems a bit of a rules fudge tbh. If you cause the red flag, you should be excluded regardless...may be they had it down as SRT because he rode half a low with a blown motor on the racing line! Exciting last 30 mins with rain, then the SRT blowing up giving get the title to CRT if they stayed on. Then Checa started riding as if touring just in case! Briedewell & Ray were 2 man team afaik. And the KRT guys only used haslam and Rae
The way I read it, Rea’s crash on oil left from a blow up in front of him caused the red flag. Controversial. Results listed Bridewell in a 3 man team. Not sure about Rea and Haslam but Haslam was reputedly well under strength from his WSSB injury so I’d be surprised if they didn’t run 3. As always, if I’ve got it wrong, happy to put my hand up. I watched the whole thing, only Haslam and Rae rode, Razg…….lu was a non riding reserve just in case Haslam's wrist couldn't handle it. The Red Flag was for Rea's crash, but he did crash on the oil left from the blow-up, the rider was looking behind him but obviously couldn't see the smoke/oil from his bike due to the dark/rain because he kept riding. It was amazing that the front 3 were so close after 7 1/2 hours until the rain started.
I hen I turned on I think they said there was a 3 second gap. After 7 1/2 hrs. I watched a Portamao one, think it may even have been 24hrs, where the leaders were less than a second apart on the last lap.
