Suzuki GSXR 250

  1. My son's got hold of a GSXR 250 basket case. I have never seen not heard of a 4 cylinder 250 before. Has anyone else?
It is claimed to put out 45 BHP at 15,000 rpm. Pretty amazing for a 25 year old 250! We intend to get it going and then restore it if it's worth it. Given the rarity I think it should be worthwhile.

  2. I used to have one of these, great bike and great fun, could do 180kph flat out! There was an 'R' and an 'RR', the R had 2 carbs, the RR had 4. Very peaky engine, nothing until 13000 rpm, then at 15000 rpm it took off until the 17000 rpm red line, as said fantastic fun and reliable.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on the difference between the 'R' and the 'RR'. Apart from Japan I think most of them went to the Aus and NZ markets. You guys must have had a licence category that suited them. 250cc limit for learners?

  4. Yep. I had mine for about 4 or 5 years and 25000kms, no problems at all, just new plugs and oil and filters yearly and all was good. :upyeah: It was black with gold diagonal stripes, metallic paint, looked good and for a 250 was great.
