Hi there. First real post on here so i hope ive got the right spot. It looks like the ECU on my gen1 Diavel Carbon has gone pop. I've found a 2nd hand unit on fleabay for circa £150 but have absolutely no idea if the thing will simply plug and play or whether there needs to be all sorts of "witchcraft" and "flashing" and the like. Is that enough to get the ball rolling? Cheers, Knuckle
Someone will be along to answer when they wake up... Lot of elderly folk on here and they need their sleep...
The Mitsubishi ECU is not one I have done any work on. I do not know where the immo system sits with the bikes using this ECU. You may be lucky that the immo system sits in the dash (like the 848/1098/1198/SF/HM does) or sits in the black box. Once the ECU arrives, fitting it will give you the answer.
I've been having a read and apparently the gen1 diavel (what i have) ecu doesn't have to pair to the dash. What are "BBS"? I've been reading about a PIN code embedded in the ecu tho; Do i only need to know that if starting without the proximity key?
Hi Guys. Got the new ECU fitted and the bike fired up first time!! Much thanks to those who chipped in with advice. Knuckle
Hi Chris I am in London Uk and have a Ducati 749 dark I have heard a lot about you on this forum hope you could shed some light or help me out with my bike. It’s my first Ducati. So I have two fault codes 17.2 but bike was running fine without any issues and from past two days bike doesn’t wanna start and it shows 10.2 error code as per what I have seen on forums and groups it’s a faulty ECU, so my question is someone is selling a ECU with immobiliser off, so if I buy and replace the faulty ECU will that work or do I need to do something else to get the bike sorted? I would appreciate if you could help me out, thanks in advance!
Before you write your ECU off you need to do a few things. 1. Replace the coil/pump/relay in the back of the battery box. It is £3 part. 2. Remove the ECU and separate the heat sink from the ECU, you will need a torx bit. Then use wet/dry to clean the heat sink to ECU mating surface. Reassemble. 3. Check the short earthing fly lead that goes under one of the ECU retaining bolts. Look for Verdigris (clean off) and wire breakage (repair). This fly lead must go back under the retaining bolt. Reassemble and see if it works. If the second hand ECU has immo disabled then it will work with your bike. I am assuming it is correctly mapped for your bike.
