Swapping The Reg/rec With Electrex Rr51

  1. I am trying to swap my trusty RR51 from a previous Ducati, onto another identical bike. I suspect that my original RR, on the left, has gone bad.

Here is a link to the wiring diagram

I am ok with the connections for the yellow leads (alternator) and the green/red for the battery.

The white lead (for the charge indicator light) from the RR51 I have connected to the only valid connection on the original harness (as below). It goes into the harness connector as shown on the right, connecting to the red/white lead.

However, there are now a couple of black/red wires on the harness which are no longer connected - i.e. the red/black on the left, and the black/red lead into the back plastic connector on the right. I'm not sure what these are for, or what to do with them?

Finally, I understand that the original black lead from the harness (battery sense lead) as shown below, is now no longer required. So I assume that this should just be isolated with electrical tape, and secured out of the way?

I reached out to Electrex a couple of weeks ago, but no response yet. So just hoping that someone else has done the same, and might be able to clear up the above questions.

Thanks in advance for any assistance
