  1. Right then 6 months left to run on my policy on the 996. Paid for in full when i took the policy out and now the bastards want £50 to cancel the policy !!!!
I refuse to chance it over to the 1098s because they want 200 quid for the 6 months till the end of the term
And i can insure it for 12 months with bikesure for £201.50 9 years Ncb clean licence (51) yrs young lol

And i thought DICK TURPIN WAS DEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I used to be a big fan of Swinton - but this year they have pissed me off immensely...

  3. Mate just changed his car, exactly 1 month left about £12 worth, they wont insure new car on policy so has to cancel, they demand £50 ... "So how will you pay the cancellation charge sir...oh credit card? Thats another £2.50. You wont pay? Ok we wont release your NCB". I told him to just not pay and write the year off, he has loads of ncb from previous year anyway. Oh and go to the ombudsman, it costs them more than£50 just to respond to a complaint ;-)

  4. Had the same problem when I changed my car last year with less than 1 month of the policy to run. They refused to release NCB details without paying the £50 penalty, "it's in the terms and conditions" so I gave the old bag in the local office a ripping about her attitude, lack of customer service skills and total indifference to retaining or gaining any business from me, my family and friends.
My new insurers agreed that I was being treated most unreasonably and were happy to wait 2 weeks for them to release the NCB after the old policy expired.

  5. experienced similar last year leading to me not bothering with multi-bike when I came to renew this time. Seems they entice you in with an initial competitor-beating low premium but then clobber you during the policy duration for any reason they can conjure up - change of bike mid-policy used to be £25 typically fairly recently but it's now around double this and rising..

  6. Same experience here. I had 5 months to go and they wanted another £190 to change from a Tiger 1050 to a K1300S.

In context, my renewal for the year was £570, which included an 04 749R and a 13 plate Thruxton.

  7. tried to charge me £60 for an early cancelation, less than 1 month to run, owed less than a tenner, told them to stick it up there arse's, so they threatened me with legal action so I told them to bring it on!! I don't mind a afternoon off at the court.
that was over 4 months ago. Just tell the robbin bastards swintons to ram it.

  10. Ha bennets tried this on me, but I've learned 'sorry you're not renewing the policy, has the bike already gone sir, is it someone else's?' Is what they said, what i heard was 'right bastard, we'll get some cash from you...'

  11. SWINTON ........WOW........PRICELESS!!! 10 months to run on my policy, change from a hypermotard to a 1098, I was expecting an increase but they said the company I was with would not insure the 1098, so with 10 months left on the policy, bearing in mind I paid in full up front too, they wanted another £9.50 off me to cancel, with no money back for the remaining 10 months either, they could not RE-quote me competitively for the 1098 so I had to cancel, they wanted almost double what I had been quoted elsewhere and for a lot less cover, eventually got the cancelation for no extra charge after a few choice words and asking to speak to the organ grinder, they have you over a barrel because you need the NCD cert for the new company. Thanks for listening, angry Taff!

  12. From memory NO Insurance Co. can refuse to supply you with an NCD, but you have to have allowed the policy to expire. They charge a lot so fcuk'em in my opinion. If they refuse just make the complaint, they'll eventually be penalised, but just shows how you ALL need to read the SMALL Print 1st. Alternatively pay a little extra and go with a reputable Ins. Co. in the 1st place. When I insured the van I paid an £35 or so to insure with Alliance. All the rest were 'cheap charlies' who'll load up the policy anyway, so you may aswell use a decent 1 in the 1st place. Ducati Insurance are pretty good with me considering, not necessary the cheapest but you 'get what you pay for'. I know they can't help everybody, but they do try to help where possible.

  13. A malicious prick rode his BMX into my parked car (whilst I was in it) then ran off. No one else informed other than the Police and my insurer, Swinton (who I called as a precaution).

In a 15 month period in which I kept a record I would guess I was called 1,100 times by companies chasing an appointment for a claim for malicious damage at the time I was insured by Swinton.

The calls persist to this day however I've since stopped counting. I now receive only perhaps two per day. I'll probably continue to receive calls until the 6yr limitation period runs its course.

I dictated a lengthy prose here regarding it all but decided nae one would want to read it so I'll keep the account brief:

    Swinton are absolute fucking monkeys.

They obviously deny any disclosure or leak of my details.

  14. A misleading title and, on account of the corrective clarification at the bottom of the piece, I would guess and certainly hope that it is not David Millward's finest piece of investigative journalism. The Police to this day "charge" for such information; at a price and to the appointed people.

Part of the dictated diatribe that I decided not to post detailed how the source of any leak was not the Police. Like I said, Swinton were a bunch of muppets over the whole affair.

  15. With just a few weeks to go on my policy with Performance Direct, I called them up last week to say I'd sold my Z1000SX and was replacing it with a new Diavel. I wanted to swap the same policy onto the new bike in order to ensure I got a full year's NCB.

Fully expecting to have my pocket picked, I was amazed when they said there was no increase in premium, and no admin fee either. Result!

Could be interesting to see what they quote for a full year on the new bike, but I was quite taken aback. Credit where it's due.
