Bunked off work and got home nice and early today. Decided to go for a ride on me bike in this lovely sunny weather. I was going to put on all my leathers, boots, back protector etc and then thought f..k it. So off I went, Hadleigh..Woodham..Heybridge.. Burnham-on-Crouch, outskirt of Maldon and home again. Approx 55 miles.....dressed as above. Rock and Roll bruvs !
Yeah man Gravel rash is sooo Rock n Roll. Trust and I speak from experience it hurts and I mean it fucking hurts and takes ages to heal. I still have scars 20 years later
For years they were black as they could not get all the debris out even though they were scrubbing my skinless for arms and elbows. They took ages to stop weeping, had to get fresh dressings every day for about 2 weeks, could not wash myself or wipe my arse because I could not bend both arms. Oh and did I mention that you cant sleep for a while as every time you move in bed the burning starts again because all the nerve endings are exposed TBH they have faded and mostly gone apart from the couple of dirty looking marks which are my gravel rash tattoos. The arm wounds took away any pain from my hips and thighs So when I seen guys or girls with just tee shirts on it kinda goes right through me. Hot weekend coming up and I don't care if its 30 degrees I will be in full leathers inc back protector.
Why are bikers who ride to work in the freezing snow and shit not moaned at ? IMO much more dangerous than a pleasant hoot around Essex (in my shorts) on a hot summers day.
Here's some guidance on treating gravel rash should you ever need it......How to Treat Road Rash: 10 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow
Thats pretty much the nail on the head. However it does not mention and I forgot to mention that any deep lacerations can not be stitched as erm well there is no skin to stitch together. Please Mr Clueless don't find out the hard way
thats a great link, very useful. it reminds me of mountain biking in the forest of dean when i was a kid, loads of the trails were built on old coal slag tips so if you fell off you knew about it!
Lat time I looked we (just) live in a free society, whether wise or not do what yer like but expect no sympathy if you get holed by a flying stone never mind falloff
