I have been looking at the tail tidy options for 2010 MTS 1200s. Rear tail light mounting broken so looking at getting moto tuner unit and tail tidy. DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200 CLEAR LED TAILLIGHT R&G & Evotech both state not suitable for panniers / cases. Just wondering what is the reason why not suitable and what options are there that can fir with cases. Don't currently have panniers but looking to get them and don't want to remove the option.
id be interested in any replys to this, as i too was looking at this mod - but put off due to the panniers comment..
I have a tail tidy and used LED indicators as the smaller size means zero issues with panniers. I have the Rizoma tail tidy which is also very nicely engineered and looks the best imho, close in and adjustable. I have the Rizoma LED lights as well and these sit happily inside the panniers without any problems.
I've had the Rizoma tail tidy and indicators on mine for 3 years. They look good, are adjustable and there are no problems seeing the indicators with panniers fitted.
Also got the Rizoma. With the OEM panniers needed to adjust indicator lights inward but fine once that was done . As already stated , nicely engineered.
So if I use and integrated tail light ( including indicators, and remove the indicators then is it correct that there will be no issue re tail tidy and panniers
Have never seen an integrated unit but if indicators are up out of the way in the rear light unit I cant see a problem. Get some pitures up when you can . What integrated unit are ypu using ?
I use the custom led one. 2010-2014 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Blaster-X Integrated LED Tail Light – Custom LED
Strictly speaking i think an integrated rear light/indicators is an MOT fail. However like a noisy exhaust it will depend which MOT station you visit as to whether it fails or not.
Yes it is. And don't forget to tell your insurance company about all the modifications you have made to your standard machine or this could potentially invalidate your insurance policy. Including, but not limited to Decals / graphics Seats Foot pegs levers engine / gearbox / drive chain modifications. None OEM brake pads or tyres. luggage screen changes handle bar grips exhausts small number plates etc
I get the hint of sarcasm but I for one actually do tell them every detail of change and have them documenting as such. You pay circa £15k for a bike the last thing you want is to hand them wriggle room. It only really attracts additional loading to the policy if you have the accessories insured, else its consequential loss so of no concern to the broker beyond increasing theft risk. Apologies if its not sarcasm as with "None OEM brake pads or tyres" I assume it was None OEM Brake pads and tyres are already fitted when it leaves the factory. Its the manufacturers consumables specification that's important, as with oils. Vendor is up to you.
No as written was correct. Intent was to say if you fitted tyres or brakes that were not the original OEM part numbers...note the EU wanted to force this on us a few years back insurance premiums would have gone skyward and many jobs would have been lost. Not to say they wouldn't list different tyres and brake pads for different seasons or mileage.
I'm in the Republic of Ireland, so not as strict an issue I have found in the past when dealing with insurer's here. The unit I'm looking is this one DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200 SMOKED LED TAILLIGHT See what ye think.
Will let you know how it goes when it arrives, currently in transit. Thought it was decent looking option.
