Taking a bike to Jersey

  1. From the UK - what are the best options and how secure are the bikes in transit? I know some people live on the isle and presumeably get off it by bike - I have never used a ferry by bike before so no idea what to expect?

I have used the condor as a foot passenger and it was good enough

    Any advice is most welcome

  2. :eek:The speed limit is 40MPH !!!!

  3. I'll ask my mate who lives over there. He usually uses a van I think, but will have some insights I'm sure. Get out on the roads early in the morning and look out for him on a D16RR or Superleggera ;-)

  4. Best option is Weymouth. Quickest crossing.
I've only gone by car before but I go over every ten weeks for work. I'm going next week actually.
Taking a van you will get charged commercial rate. Much much more than say a private car.
I'd say it will be fine. Unless height of season the ferry won't be anywhere near full.

  5. Going to see in laws and riding bike through wales - riding on island a bit pointless - have bicycles over there already tbh
Is it best to use centrestand or sidestand on a ferry? Also any other tips / stuff to take to secure it?

  6. Wife seems to remember that bikes where placed near a 'wall' with a huge 'pillow' between bike and wall and strapped to the wall.
I honestly don't remember but was concentrating on driving.

  7. My kids live over there, but ive always flown. lot of faff on & miles etc just to see them for a weekend.
