Hi All, Interested to know how the taller riders are finding the screen height on the new bike. Has it got better? Are there options for screen sizes or has anyone put a pikes peak screen on. Cheers
This is the one I'm interested in but I cant find any feed back on it Ducati Multistrada 1200 Gran Turismo Windscreen: 97180221A
Theres a taller touring screen available however I'm planning on putting something like this on mine when I collect next week to use when touring as the standard screen just seems to buffet air in to my face, I'm 6ft 2 for your reference: MRA Spares And I've ordered the pikes peak style carbon screen for day to day use, will post picks next friday!
I use the standard screen on the lowest setting but am changing to the short carbon one (like my previous 13 PP) when I can afford it. I am 6ft 2in and use an Arai Tour X4 helmet and find the peak "flutters" if I raise the standard screen also have the seat on high setting.
I'm 6'2" and get a bit of buffeting and quite a lot of noise from screen in the low position. In the high position it is a bit less noisier but more buffety. If I have it low and stand up just a bit, my helmet is in clear air so it's much smoother and quieter. So...I'm going for a shorter screen. I've ordered this one from MRA, but they won't have any until July... Catalog- MRA Shop
At 6', and with the seat raised, I vacillate between having the screen fully up and fully down. It's usually good fully up, 'til around 70Kph or so. When it's up, I get less buffeting, but the top of my helmet is right in the turbulent layer of air at highway speeds, so it's much noisier. When it's down, the dirty air hits my chest and the helmet is in clean air, so my neck works harder but it's quieter. From moving my head up and down at various speeds, it feels like I just need to move that turbulent layer up a couple of inches, so I'm starting to shop around for either a spoiler/extender or something like that GT screen.
Hi - I am 5'7" but with a 26" inside leg - so would put me at 6'1" if my legs had grown . When I test rode the MTS I noticed the wind and noise - no matter what I did with the standard screen. So I spoke to the dealer who recommended the touring screen as an improvement. Well I had that fitted - it looks nice being tinted - but riding in low position - its no better and maybe worse than the standard screen for wind and noise (even with ear plugs) In high position - also no better and you are looking through it - don't like that. Reverted back to the standard screen Took it for a ride and definitely the standard screen is better that the Touring Screen for me - better in low position - less buffeting but still noisy. Anyone tried the Carbon fiber short screen? - does that help - reluctant to waste wore money.......
On the older bikes the shorter screen was less noisy, but also less protection of course. After much experimenting on my 2011 bike the best solution I found was a Puig screen, with Wunderlich deflector on the top. High position on motorways and I could just see over the top, low position on twisty roads for better visibility. There are pictures on the EMM thread. When I test rode the DVT I noticed that the screen gave less buffeting, but a lot of noise (wind roar), holding my hand at the top of the screen (like the adjustable Wunderlich) cut this out, so this is what I will try when I trade up later in the year. Good product, well made with lots of adjustability. Wunderlich VarioERGO screen deflector
