Tank bags

  1. Anyojne got any good recommedations preferably with a photo.

I have used to the Bags Connection bags on previous bikes and am likely to stay with them but just asking to make sure i am not missing out on anything better.

Does anyone have a Bags Connection tank ring fitted to their bike? the only photo i can find of one fitted to a Multi appears to show some spacers underneath the ring which kind of defeats part of the object for me and is one of the reasons for asking for other ideas too.

  2. A photo of the Evo tank ring which also seems to have spacers.

  3. The connection ring is fitted with four spacers, this gives more clearance reducing the risk of paint damage, works for me.

  4. Steve, can you use that bag for a Sat Nav too? it says on the Givi website that it is compatible just wondered what your thoughts were, before I purchase. Thanks Matt.

  5. I don't see why not Matt. The lid of the tank bag has a normal size map pocket that you could easily fit a sat nav into, and it has a cable hole at the front end (yokes end) for your power lead if you needed one. There is also a additional 'tablet holder' which fits onto the top of the bag - I guess the idea is that you stick your iPad, etc. in there. It also has a hole for your power cable.

I've not done this. An issue will be that you have to look down a lot to see the screen, but what I'm planning to give a go is just put my iPhone in there and use bluetooth to a separate bluetooth headset so that I can hear instructions as I'm riding. Having said that, I may just go old fashioned and write some instructions and stick them in the clear top bit! :)

Just one thing to note - the mounting thing on the base of the bag can be moved backward/forwards. I didn't realise this initially, and the instructions don't mention it, so when I first put the bag on it was getting hit by the bars on anything resembling full lock. Once I realised the adjustment was there everything is perfect.

  6. I made one for this. big enough for what you need when touring.

  7. I've put a Bagster harness on my bike and alternate between a really small tank bag that holds phone, wallet and smokes to a 20l one that I can carry a camera, spare gloves, visor etc in addition to the essentials.

The only problem with the harness for the Multistrada is that the front and rear clips are closer together than on most of the range so you're a bit limited regarding which tank bag you can use.

Made these little things so they are not intrusive and the tank bag uses there original magnets.

  9. Dick: That's ingenious. Nice work. Is that a Cortech bag you're using? I bet there would be a few people who'd buy those from you. I have a Cortech magnetic bag that I love, that I used with my old bike. It converts to a backpack with a couple of straps and is awesome. Not sure if the magnets on that bag would work with your tabs though.
