1200 Tank Pads - Who's Got What Fitted

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by damodici, May 23, 2014.

  1. Yes I know its a stupid question but before my multi went to get painted it didn't have a tank pad fitted so I don't have any proper reference

I've looked at the genuine ducati ones and from what I can see on google images photos is that they sit directly on the top of the tank, is that right? They aren't meant to affix on the small vertical section just in front of the seat and then bend over the contour to the top of the tank?

I just figured that small section there might get the scratches more so than the top and the only other ones I've seen that cater for that are the motografix ones as you get a separate section, the problem is that I think the motografix are a little over the top in the design department.

  2. I got myself a carbon slip on from SW motech I seem to remember. Covered half the tank and worked a charm....tried another stick on variety but as you say they only covered the top not the bit by your nuts...

  3. I went with the Motografix one:

Personally I don't think it's over the top as I'm not into 'blinging' up my bikes with stickers etc but it covers that vulnerable area pretty well.

  4. I have a carbon "cup" style from that German Carbon Company (Can't remember the name sorry) excellent quality and protects the tank well.

  5. Carbonworld :upyeah:

  6. The satin finish Ducati Performance one is best, IMHO.

  7. Motografix also...........great quality, would recommend :D

  9. None. Not like you are hunched over it

  10. I tried the genuine one in clear. It looked absolutely wank TBH. Had sort of bubbly effect because of being see-through and like said did naff all to protect the tank front edge.
    It's now in the bin...

  11. Ventureshield kit on mine

  12. I always buy a few sheets of 3M clear vinyl off ebay and make my own, usually use a plate to cut a rounded shape or something similar. They always look good imo without being 'in your face' noticeable but do the job. Not had a Multi to be fair but used on my Monsters, SC's and SF

  13. lol..............what d'you want to know Andy?

  14. What make is the fuel cap and is the carbon Ducati or aftermarket, nice weave ? The more I look at carbon cover the more I can feel my wallet opening up. Andy

  15. The fuel cap is Ducabike / Home - very nice quality item which (I confess lol) was fitted purely for aesthetic reasons (didn't like the idea of a cap that didn't lock in some way or other;-)
The carbon tank centre panel is genuine DP but all the other additional carbon items on my bike have come from elsewhere:
www.carbonworld.de (10% discount code: MTS1200INFO) and CDT Group (dealers) gave good service and quality parts...
plus of course Steve at CarbonConquest / HOME -Conquest Carbon | Specialists in performance parts & carbon fibre is recommended! :D
Steve is also a reseller for Ducabike and CNC Racing parts to name just a couple ;-)
....and gives forum members a discount ;-)
