Tank Paint Bubbling

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Etherion, Aug 13, 2018.

  1. Hi all, have an old bike which hasn't been used for a couple of years. I am trying to get it back running and noticed that there is some rust in the tank and a couple of paint bubbles.

I am just wondering if its cheaper to buy a second hand tank (around 400gbp) or better option to treat the tank and then repaint? Any idea how much that would cost and who would be able to do a good enough job?

Or just buy second hand but run the risk that rust or bubble may develop as bike is over 15 years old

  2. May help if you say what bike and year - because you never know someone may have a tank they could help you out with..

  4. I cleaned my tank out with chemicals and kept it. I prefer to repair mine than buy another one that i dont know. Only option is maybe a new one that has been on a shelf with no petrol in. Maybe...
