Sadly that could vary from bike to bike. I had my Multistrada sender replaced and the warning light now comes on with 10 litres still in the tank. The only way to be sure is to brim the tank and then brim it again as soon as you can after the warning light comes on. Andy

Don't know but I ran out on the 999 last year and they are bloody heavy to push in full leather.
