I had Techspec Snakeskins fitted to my RSV4 and liked them a lot. So I thought I would fit some to my 1299... I got the C3 variant. I emptied the tank. I cleaned the surface with alcohol. I warmed the surface to somewhere near the recommended temperature. I fitted the pads to the tank and fairings. Two weeks later and the pads on the tank are peeling off by themselves. Bollox! So much for the "releasable adhesive" that they advertise. Adhesive that sticks would be nice! Any of you using these pads? Do you have any adhesion issues? Right now I am considering taking advantage of the "releasable adhesive" and consigning these to the bin...
I have them, but I didn't fit the tank ones, just the lower ones that go on the fairings. Did you fit these ones as well? Mine have remained in place ok.
I fitted both. So far only the ones on the tank are lifting. On the RSV4 a flat pad was fitted to essentially a flat surface on the tank. The 1299 tank is anything but flat where the pads are located. How they expect a flat pad to stick to a convex tank with such poor adhesive is beyond me...
Did you get yours from Speedycom? I've heard their customer service is pretty decent, so maybe give them a ring and see what they say. You might get another set to try out of it. There's always the option of trying your own adhesive as well. When I was researching the best way to fit the carbon subframe covers to my bike, people were recommending aquarium sealant as it is strong but comes off when required. Not sure if you'd want to use that on paintwork, but I guess the point I'm making is that there are probably a few options to get the bloody things to stick properly!
