Tempted to sell/swap my 08 Hypermotard 1100 and go back to a sports bike..... I love the grunt my Hyper has over my old 600s but I think I miss the sports bike handling too much I'm thinking an 08/09 Blade.... Sometimes being a person that weighs things up for ages before making a decision is a pain....Sadly I'm not one to just go 'Fook it' and change bikes at the drop of a hat..
Funnily enough, i've been mulling over swapping my 999 for a Hyper as I have 2 other sports bikes and the wife wants to learn on a 125cc so I need something fun at slower speeds when i'm riding shot-gun but i'm not a "fack it" kind of guy that just does stuff either.
Buy my Streetfighter. Sportsbike handling with more grunt than the Hyper (trust me, it has). And you don't crush your nuts when you hit the brakes..
What are the ergonomics on the 999 like ? I've read/heard the old 748/916's are like the medieval rack....

999 is a comfortable arm chair compared to my 996 or GSXR. Much more weight on your arse than your wrists. Lots of foot peg position options too. If I had to do any proper miles on 999, 996 or GSXR I'd take 999 every time. Ask in the general section the general consensus, I expect loads of people have ridden both.
Hhmmmmm might have to have a look at 999's...... Street fighter too new for me, I've not got the option if adding any money as saving for a big holiday.... Plus I need a bike everyday hence every bike I've ever bought has been a Px with my old one

Well if you'd be interested in a part-X with an MY03(05 plate) 999 with under 7.5k/mls, 1 previous owner (not a nun) currently sat at DWR Aylesbury waiting for collection after getting the valves adjusted and a dyno run let me know. Bodywork is slightly tatty so was going to SORN her 30th October and spend the winter getting her resprayed so you'd probably get a few £££ your way (but not ££££).

Would be best to have a chat on the phone or maybe meet at Super Sausage or somewhere one sunny Sunday, we could swap bikes for 1/2hr as I I've never ridden a super motard type bike. But you'll not want to give the 999 back once you try the fully floating Galfer brake discs and drop a knee at a roundabout.
I've ridden later blades and owned a Gixxer thou, and I have to say that compared with these my 999S is MUCH more comfortable both on the wrists and neck...go for it !.
My dreams of a 999 are already dashed @Cream_Revenge Bloke at the bike shop this morning had a 749 and let me have a sit on it....My back and neck wouldn't be able to take the riding position....I got rid of my CBR600 as the riding position caused me 'slight' agro.....These months of upright riding must have made me even more of a wuss...Sorry again mate....
No worries, thanks for letting me know. I can now carry on with my plans over winter, was starting to wonder what i'd do with myself if I did swap!
Ummming and ahhhhhing mate... It's a great bike but I've never really gelled with the handling like I did with my sports bikes...Think I'll have to look for a halfway house...
T9...make sure you try one as I found way more uncomfortable than a 916. K51000 was like an armchair, pulls like a V twin and does big soeed fast. Imho if I were looking at a 5k road bike it would be a K5
