ive Fitted a termi can to my multi. I would like some more noise, so I understand I need to remove the cat. Question being can I get say the arrow decat section or do I need the whole front section? I’m confused as I’m sure I’ve seen by akrapovic the whole front bit, but it’s mega money and I think I may void the warranty ? Is there a middle section that replaces he collector box , five more Noise and doesn’t cock Up the fuelling or warranty?
There are now a few companies which supply just the decat which is the replacement for the big lump of an exhaust, you don’t need the front bit or the bit up to the rear cylinder. I purchased one from China which fits very well apart from one bracket which needed the hole opening out, I fitted the original cannon which I understand is like the Termi straight through, its wayyyyyy to loud and I like loud bikes, obscene is the word I used. I have now purchased a new Leo Vince end can with dB killer which will be fitted in the morning, hopefully making it a little quieter.
The Termngoni end can is straight through so without the cat it would be too loud, I cut my box open and removed the internals before welding it up, the sound was just about right but I've now invested in a full Termngoni which has a removable baffle in the can.
As BigAlan says, a decat with a standard silencer is likely to be very loud. The arrow decats are designed to replace the cat, having the same diameter and location of connecting pipes. I put an arrow decat pipe on my enduro with standard silencer (details in another post on here), and whilst I could put up with it for local trips I put the cat back on to do a trip to Germany. A friend has a LeoVince (I think) which has a removable baffle on his DVT. He has chopped this down to give him the level of noise he wants. His is way quieter than my bike with decat and standard silencer, and is imo an acceptible level, nice deep exhaust note but not crazy loud.
I am not looking to butcher an oem piece or make anything, maybe buy the leovince decat? as far as loud is concerned, i had a monster 1200r with termis and that was very loud.
So I now have the Chinese decat married to a brand new Leo Vince carbon can with dB killer, yes it’s louder but I don’t think obscene as it was with the standard can on. Ok I ride with ear plugs and it’s behind me but if the wife says it’s ok then that’s good enough for me.
