749 Termi Exhaust V Black Swing Arm

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Spjallen, Nov 7, 2014.

  1. I've just changed my swing arm on my 2005 749s to a "black" one. That bit went ok. Now onto the exhaust. It's a termi system but I'm not sure of the mm yet.
There's probably been loads of post on this saying it won't fit with the new swing arm. So, how to I know if the bike is deep sump or not and how it affects the fitting. What's the solution? Is it some sort of banna link pipe? Help required please.

  2. Deep sump has an upside down pyramid shaped sump. Not sure on the exhaust fir as I have read some fit with the 70mm serpent termi but most say not - think it is said to clash with the arm. I have one to fir with standard R termi but not yet researched it in detail. There was a thread in the last week or too with someone doing the same.

  3. Theres no deep sump 749 S

  5. If you have an asymmetric (half system) then you can easily modify the link pipe if you are brave.

I did mine by putting a bit of touch up paint on the swingarm, offering up the pipe so it touches and leaves a mark on the pipe. Then taking note of the correct angle and with the pipe on grass with a bit of wood under, whack it with a big block of wood (I used a short length of fence post) making slow progress until it is the correct fitment.

Worked for me and can be done to other systems too but dont blame me if you fluff it up....
