I was looking at getting some termi slips ons then found a full system for about £300 more. When looking at the system it didn't really look any different from the stock pipes. Does anyone what the difference is and what difference it makes? Is it worth getting?
Which superbike? I'm guessing its the 848/1098.... You get to ditch the exhaust servo junk and get rid of all the emissions shite....... You also get to ditch the tea tray heat shield off the side. Then there's the proper Ducati sound track it releases. For the extra I'd snap it up as the systems are getting more and more difficult to acquire...... Has it got the ecu and air filter with it for that?
Full system, ECU, air filter and slip ons all included. It's the only one I've seen so far that isn't on the other side of the planet.
I had the cans first.....then added the rest of the system. I wasn't sure....the same as you and I'd even tried the end cans. The system didn't seam to give a lot or any difference to the power, but it feels like the fuelling is smoother. The noise isn't a whole lot louder, if at all, but it makes a far deeper tone....and I love mine. If you look at the right side where your tea tray is.....then look at the tiny carbon heat shield that is supplied with the termi system....it's a whole lot neater and that servo you loose weighs a ton. Are you convinced yet......or shall I go on?
I thought so....lol Had the old style cans, then new style cans (much deeper), then added headers! I thought the full system made a huge difference to power! MUCH quicker and pics up the front with ease...
If "my mate" was to have, say, an 848 Corse with the new style Termi cans (+ DP ECU and Filter) but the stock front pipes, would he need to remap the DP ECU if he was to manage to find the front pipes for sale on their own? Or would he get away with just fitting a pair of headers and leaving the DP ECU as it is? He's not been looking, (yet) but the cost of the full system was too much to swallow for him when he bought the bike so he opted for the cans only to start with. It seems that buying new headers on their own is a no-go as it looks like either full system or cans only, but surely headers will come up for sale from time to time. Any advice? Andy
if "your mate" happened to have a 2013 848 Corse  and wanted to fit new headers, I believe that is a different ECU from Ducati as opposed to the silencers only, however as I'm sure you know you can get whatever ECU you have reflashed to the correct basic Ducati settings.
Aye that's what I thought... I guess I've zero complaints about the cans and the sound, so it's really just if the chance was to arise. A re-flash should be easy enough if they can get the data from the full system ECU but this could end up more hassle than it's worth with the DTC and all that. Will keep an eye on the market once all the 848 owners start flogging their parts to pay for an 899.
The first issue 'your mate' would have is the cel light on the dash would come up with an exhaust servo error.....as it will have gone. Quickly followed by the other lambda cel error from the second one that the evo and se models have. Then you can worry about the fuel map. But your right in that you can flash any sw to the iaw5am ecu they have fitted......if you can find it.
Think I've still got a header kit for the 848evo  It does use a different ECU to the slip ons as mentioned to clear the errors on the lambda and ex valve going AWOL. Will only fit the Termis though....
