Bought a Termi slip-on exhaust for the MTS1200 off E-Bay and it came without any fitting instructions. Anybody help?
I was just wondering if there were any "How To's" or things to look out for in terms of fitting/removal.
It is really straight forward and effectively the reverse of getting the original off (in terms of unclamping and twisting before pulling it off). The only advice I would give is to take the opportunity to grease up the tightening bolt of the clamp and give the valve mechanism a good de-gunging and grease up as well while you're there.
Thanks Mark H, useful advice. After much squirrelling around on the tinterweb I did manage to download the original Ducati fitting instructions, so all is sorted out now.
Hi, do you need to do anything with the mapping if you just fit the end can only? Whats the sound difference over the stock can? Thanks.
Mapping and sound stay the same. Silencing and fuel changes only change/need to be adjusted after CAT and O2 sensors are taken out of the loop AFAIK.
Cheers Den, Do you not get a deeper tone or any louder than the original cans? otherwise it would seem pointless just adding the end can only.
dazzbo, I think you'll find it's another Ducati 'form over function' in terms of sound ie the can looks better than the OEM but that's about it. I definitely didn't notice any major noise difference between the two.
Thanks for all your feedback. So basically is there any slip-on silencer to change the sound/tone of the bike or is the only option to remove the CAT and fit a de-cat section, is it easy to do and which is the best option? Thanks again.
dazzbo, In all honesty the answer is no. If you want a sound with a bit more 'bite' then ditch the cat. This is what Zed3 did and it sounds the dog's bollocks (imho): Ben's special de-cat
