Termi To Start Making Older Bikes' Exhausts

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by d8mok, Nov 20, 2014.

  1. Just seen that termi are to start re-making exhausts for 749-999, 848-1198, 916 bikes again. Thats good new surely for owners who cant find a set 2nd hand.

Maybe they worried akro will start to take over in the future and are trying to pee on their territory

  2. lets hope their quality is better this time around.

  3. If I could I'd buy an Akro for both my 916 and 1198. Ive termis on both but the 1198 akro looks so much better. Especially in Ti. But I'd bought the termi end cans without giving akro a thought. Doh!

  4. so much better quality Bootsam, and in the past it wasn't unknown for race teams to buy akro and park the termi sticker on them.

  5. Big part of their business has obviously gone but something to bear in mind if looking for an exhaust is they were never cheap in the first place. Used prices for xx9 bike systems are strong because they are hard to get hold of but I cant see people wanting to shell out the sort of big money they will want for a new one. Unless we have all been had by buying from Ducati...... hmm, will see.

Its only a good thing for owners that they will start manufacturing again.

  6. £978 +VAT 749/999 kit with ECU

  7. Hmm, not bad at all. How much did it cost from Ducati?

    Wondering what their mark-up was....

Ive just checked the main site and it said nothing.

    Have a link?

  8. Thats from Ducati dealers they got the info on the older bike kits yesterday

  9. Shame I bought a 2nd hand system in the summer and a pc3. Would have gone new. Still might in the future.

  10. The kits are being re released by via Ducati Performance. A lot are being supplied with ecu except the monsters iirc. No EPROM is being supplied for 748, 916, 996 but that's easily resolved. Don't think any of the kits come with air filters either, but again, not the end of the world.
Prices don't look too bad tbh, especially looking at what's being asked for the early SBK stuff.

  11. Are they making full systems and even kit parts like decat pipes available too?

Think they would sell a few decat pipes as long as they are not stupidly priced against the mivv etc.

  12. Not if I recall. The list is pretty much all silencer kits. The 749/999 would probably have the decat'd link pipe. I'll check tomorrow :)

  13. Cheers Nelly.

I have one but I know finding a good exhaust is the one thing most owners struggle with and to be honest, if it comes with the ECU, thats a good deal.

  14. So you buy a £5k bike and then have to shell out roughly 25% of the value for an exhaust? Sorry but that's feckin ridiculous. The mark ups must be horrendous. A fool and his money

  16. VROOM -------------------

  17. JC.... Had a look this morning and it's just silencer kits they're doing. The list is...

    Carbon silencers 45mm 748-916-996
    Carbon silencers 45mm with ECU - 998
Low carbon silencers no ECU SS 620-750-800-900-1000
    Steel silencer with ECU 749-999
Low carbon silencers no ECU Monster 620-695-750-800-900-1000 up til 2002
    Raised silencers with ECU MS2R 800 - 1000
Black silencer with ECU Paul Smart and Sport mono
Raised side silencers carbon with ECU MS4RS/MS4R up to 2000
    Stainless silencer with ECU GT1000
Carbon silencers with ECU 848-1098-1198 (original style cans not slash cut)

None of the kits come with air filters. Lack of ECU can be cured with a reflash and eproms are still obtainable for the 748-916-996 from various sources.

  18. Performance supermoto exhausts......like rocking horse shit to find and twice as expensive....I had to pay 200 quid for a second hand akra for my 525 and it was in "ok" nick....front pipe, just one section will cost (if you could ever find one) around 350 quid in titanium and its only 2ft long, or thereabouts...

The only saving grace is that I found that a cbr600 akra was the same bore size and slightly shorter for 90 quid (which I prefer and just waiting to get the motor back to see if fits...

  19. Hi I'm new to the site and was reading your thread, these exhausts do seem prohibitive on price, and very difficult to obtain a second hand one.so I thought about modifying my existing exhaust, by coring.Ive heard that this boosts power to allow better breathing and also and arguably more important gives a deeper louder sound! Doe anyone know of a company or individual who does this, as It needs to be done by a specialist to give the best gains. My bike ia an 05 749 by the way!

  20. Dont bother. A search through youtube will show you they dont sound good.

Removing the cat in the mid pipe is a good option if you cant find a decat pipe but I would leave your end can alone and start saving your pennies.

Even though the cost is high, the quality of sound and gain on a 749 is worth every penny.
