Hi all. Fitted the Termi's I got from eBay this evening. Have a bit of a technical issue though. The ECU that goes with the slip ons doesn't seem to work. The dash comes up with SBK 848 TSE, and the bike won't start. Could this be linked in with the key / immobiliser having to be mapped to the new ECU? Is it wise to ride the bike with the standard ECU in? Going to take it out in the morning to see what she runs like with the original ECU in... Thanks Jon
The original ecu will keep the exhaust servo operating and the fuelling wrong. My guess from the ecu message your getting, that you've been given the stock ecu not the DP one.....I'd check the big long number on the sticker and google it. Both my DP slip on ecu and full system ecu had some reference to Racing in the MSG....
That's a stock ECU start up message The immo is in the dash so the ECU should be plug and play Did you remember to refit the little earthing lead that goes onto one of the fixing bolts for the ECU?
Thanks. I did refit the earthing thingy... Is it possible to re map a standard ECU? If so, any idea how much? If not, then I will ask for a full refund... Daft me really, could have got a brand new slip on system for only about £500 more...
The immobiliser on the newer bikes is only in the clocks. That means you can plug and play a second hand ECU whereas the older bikes you had to bypass the immobiliser in the ECU. Providing the map is available it is possible to reflash a stock ECU to DP.(what year/Model of bike?) I'm sure one of the guys will point you in the right direction for help
Thanks very much! It was mentioned that someone on here can re-flash the ECU. Will go through my old posts to find out... Out of interest, how much is a new, ECU for Termi's? Can't find a price on the web... Also, what does DP Flash mean?
New ECUs are about £960 + VAT. No, I didn't type that wrong! What exactly did you do? Just fit the slip-on cans? Did you remove anything else like the exhaust valve? Is the an engine warning light on the dash? Check the manual as I think you hold the "down" button and it gives you the error code. SBK 848 TSE stands for "TestaStretta Evoluzione", ie for an 848 Evo. Is that what you have? I have a feeling that you have a standard (non-Evo) 848 but you have the 848 Evo ECU and the wiring looms are different, so it can't find a sensor it's looking for. I've seen exactly the same issue with someone trying to put a 1098 ECU into an 1198 - it gave all sorts of errors because the sensors were different. A reflash would be the way to go. I'm sure someone will offer to help you out!
Nope, just replaced the cans, ECU and air filter. Got the original ECU in at the mo and will see how she runs. It will all go back if it doesn't work. I have an 848 Evo. 2011. What I bought are not the slash cut cans though... Does this matter?
The cans shouldn't matter, but it's odd that you have an EVO and an EVO ecu but get problems. Do you get the EOBD light (engine on-board diagnostics) on the dash to show an error? If so you should be able to see the error code on the dash. Check the manual for details - instructions on p11 and codes on p32 of the manual. You can download an electronic copy here: Ducati
Just checked and the 848 EVO ECU for the slip-on cans should read "SBK 848 EVO DP" on the dash when switched on. The ECU software code is 321818PUA05 - this (or part of it) should be on a label on the ECU. If it says "SBK 848 TSE" then it's the ECU for standard cans. If it says "848 EVO RACING" then it's the ECU for the full (race) system.
Nope. When the Eu that came with the cans is in it won't even turn over, when I put my original ECU in, it starts fine...
The SBK 848 TSE is the start up message for a non-EVO 848. This is likely to be the problem I've just checked my maps 848 - SBK 848 TSE 848 EVO - SBK 848 EVO 848 EVO DP - SBK 848 EVO DP 848 EVO DP Full - 848 EVO RACING
Will check tomorrow, but think who I bought it off has mixed up his ECU's. he has an 1098S now so think he either left the old one in the bike, or mixed it with his 1098?
Thanks Chris. Will I need to disable the O2 / lambda sensor thingy? Sorry for being such a dimwit... Il4's were easier!, but not as much fun!
