I've got an opportunity to buy a 54mm Termig full system that has been run on a 749s. It will fit my 749bip which has the same shallow sump and black swing arm, I'm currently running an asymmetric Termig with the correct ECU and filters set up by the a dealer. I've spoken to the same main dealer today to make sure this would fit my bike. One person I spoke to said, yes it will fit as long as it's for the correct sump and swing arm, which it would be and talk of the 54mm system not working on a 749 due to lack of compression is rubbish! :smile: I had to call back and spoke to another person at the same dealers who said no it wouldn't work because the 54mm will only work properly with a 999 and even then would need re mapping. With a 749 it would need a power commander etc etc..and a remap otherwise it would run lumpy and would lose midrange power. Is anyone out there running this system on their 749?
Hi Shaun i had one on my grey swing armed 749. I ran the stock ecu with a power commander and twin custom maps. From memory it was made for the black swing arm also. i got more power for sure, but the character of the engine changed substantially. Power shifted to the top end, and it did spin up very quickly, but roll off the throttle and all the engine braking had gone. I would not say its a good move.
