Does anyone know if the the upmap key for the skyhook bike can be used on more than one bike? I have removed my Termi from my 10 plate bike and I am hoping to fit it to my new skyhook bike. If it can be used again does anyone have one I could borrow for a cash reward! Wink! I would be interested to know if the fuelling is on par with the standard bike and what the fuel consumption is like. Pete.
I understand that you don't replace the engine ECU on the new bike you plug in the upmap stick and download the new fuel map into the original ECU. Not like the old bike which you replaced the ECU completely.
No. When you connect the UPMAP key to the bike it's then effectively locked out. It is transferable, but the operation needs reversing by plugging it back into the bike and returning it back to stock. You could then use the key on another bike.
or consider Tuneboy you get mapping, cruise control and optional quick shifter as well. Also can't be transferred to another bike though...
Dave you are the oracle! I look into it. You about on Sunday the EMM team are meeting at Cowfold for 11am.
I got my Tuneboy kit direct from Tuneboy Australia. I had a relative bring it over from Sydney for me to simplify importing, but Tuneboy will post direct. Every few months they have a group buy with significant discounts on the US Ducati forum. The quickshifter works by replacing the gear change linkage with a strain gauge and wiring it to one of the o2 sensors. The software allows you to set up and down pressure sensitivity. The difference with owning your own device is that you can change the mapping if you change the bike and in theory you can use any tuner and dyno. Also you can reset service warnings. I imagine Xbikes have a multi use license and they write to your ECU, but you don't get the kit. Best to contact them directly and see so you can compare them with Tuneboy direct..
