  1. Test rode 1199s today.

Drove to Ducati Manchester today was gonna put deposit down on a 1199 base model on a 12 plate with 900 miles but was sold when I got there. Took the opportunity for a test ride on the 1199s and was quite impressed. Light and nimble. Enough grunt but not as front end happy as the 1198s. Very different feel. Was impressed with the quick shifter. I question if the extra pounds for the s is worth its money as the base model has everything you need. I also prefer the thicker forks on the base. O and looked at a newer S with low miles '3' and the smoke from it was bad. I was told it will go but not keen on a bike that looks like a rg500 on start up. Have you all had this issue on new bikes till they run in ? 947231_10151617756290819_391830322_n.jpg

  2. My 848 EC SE smoked for a little while. Doesn't do it now and I think it stopped after the first 350/400 miles.

  3. Clear from the title that lvely 1198s of your bike is still in your thoughts ;-)

From what I hear, 'they all do that sir'

  4. Meant 1199s. I been test riding the 1198s for 4 years !

  5. great colour scheme!

  6. It's the same 1199S I was looking at buying, but couldn't commit to it as things didn't stack up. It belonged to a collector who now has an 'R' in it's place. :upyeah:

  7. Correct....Offered it for good price but would rather buy one run in with no smoke bellowing out of it. I gonna go for a base model the more I think about it. The LED lights are cool but not worth the extra, I am no suspension guru so don't think would benefit from the electronic suspension. Don't take pillions, don't do track days (yet). My 1198s went tonight so now in the hunt for one.

  8. FWIW, my 2013 spec did not smoke at all except for the very 1st start immediately after delivery to me and that was probably due to excessive oil level after the PDI. Absolutely no trace of any smoke during the 620 mile run in period with neglible oil consumption (0.5 pint added). Apparently the factory introduced modified piston rings for 2013 production

    hope this helps

  9. Deposit down on Base model. 2500 miles on clock and 1 year Manufacturers Warrenty. £11900 well happy. Roll on Saturday !

  10. Great deal!

  11. Looks lovely! Would have had a 1199 over my 1098 but insurance is quite steep

  12. Ducati have changed the piston rings on the 2013 model so it should not smoke any more ! Lesson learnt in the first year of production I think, mine smoked until about 1300 mls now it's fine . Get one you will love it .

  13. 2013 model and still on 40 a day. ;) To be fair after 600 miles I don't think it does it any more.

  14. My 2012 has done 3800 and it still smokes on start up.

  15. Picked 1199 Panigale up today and was a very happy chappy. For sure they not as grunty as the 1198 but it was hard to get the power down on the 1198 with out the front lifting. They defiantly not as flighty the 1199. Handing is awesome very light and pin point accurate. Had a crazy 5 minutes returning from picking it up and took it to the magic 8,000 rpm. Went like a scalded cat, was impressed with the top end power. One gripe is the seat as it feels slippy and also only really wants you sat in one position on the seat and you slide to that spot all the time. Hot on the suspension side - Ouch ! Love the looks though and sounds sweet with standard cans especially WOT as the induction noise is load too. All in all very happy, now where's the DP Catalogue :upyeah:

  16. You mean you still have some money left???

  17. When I first took mine out for a proper ride after buying it I couldn't believe after spending so much money I was finding myself making a mental shopping list!! I think us Ducati riders are a hard bunch to please!. Comfort seat is a the top of my list, my arse aches for days after a ride (In a manner of speaking!!!!!!!!!!).
