The 2013 updated Multistrada thread (MY2013)

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Freak, Aug 14, 2012.

  1. So we know there's a new/revised 2013 Multistrada coming and the single spy shot shows a new screen/mount.

What else do we know? Anything?

    What else would we like?

  2. Rear Brake? has it got one?

    Panigale engine?

  3. I would think the new engine will be the direction they will take, emissions etc. I would like to see better quality panniers with a little more capacity perhaps, I can't even get the kitchen sink in these current ones tut. Perhaps a touring version with more weather protection would be an idea.

    Chris.

  4. Hope they leave the engine alone, it's the best bit of the bike. Hope they update the screen, back brake (one that works) , larger fuel tank???

  5. I would like to know if they will use panigale engine. Purely to see how they solved no frame bit on naked bike. Richard H they can not get the rear brake to work for minimum last 22y (oldest Duc I ridden was that old) so would not hold my breath :). I managed to get my one to have two options on monster off or on.

  6. I love mine as it is ... BUT ... a dry clutch would be a great add-on for me :)

  7. I think we've had the last of the dry clutches now unfortunately even the Panigale doesn't have one, although I'm sure the R model will have one. There will no doubt be an aftermarket kit to convert it though like the 848

  8. From the latest Pikes Peak version you can see one. On last year´s PP edition there wasn´t any ... so i may think there´s a kit coming out ... i hope :)

  9. The new 1199 engine is apparently quite rev happy and low down is not too clever. Wouldn't have thought it would have suited the MTS tbh. They will probably have to do some work to it to smooth it out like they did with the 1198

  10. I have a friend who is a ducati mechanic for more than 20 years now and he says the Panigale engine "eats" a lot of oil, more than you can imagine ... and on lows it´s kind of ...

  11. There's a 2 page article in todays MCN saying that the 2013 Multi will have "active" suspension as an option!

  12. Anyone able to scan the article?

  13. WTF does that mean ??

  14. Maybe like in cars, sensors adapt suspension to speed of travel, road surface and weather conditions.

  15. Something else to go wrong IMHO, although I don't own a Multi, I think that the current model looks superb and seems to me to have the best blend of engine/frame etc, just sort out the brake problems and I reckon it's the bee's knees.

  16. I don't know for sure but it seems to be only a few of the earlier models which show this problem. Put it this way, I regularily go out with various other 1200 owners and none of them have had this problem. Granted the rear brake sure lacks any bite but then I only use the rear to hold the bike at juctions etc, the front brakes are fantastic plus all that engine braking. Having just said all that I can see just how frustrating it must be for the guys who are plagued by lack of rear brake. I just think it needs pointing out, the problem with all internet forums is they are a great place for guys to talk of their troubles but it is easy to forget the other 99% of bikes without such problems. After all it would be politically incorrect to start shouting stuff like, "My bike has zero defects and is perfect in every way!" Now if I have not just jinksed myself... Just trying to make a point, hope this helps.
    Chris.

  18. Sorry it's to big to go in my scanner.

Reading the article Ducati have filed a "Trade mark Application" for a system called Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS).

According to MCN Skyhook is used in other forms of advanced motoring which creates a virtual reference point above the centre of the bike that feeds from various sensors on the bike back to an ECU which adjusts the suspension damping in real time. There is a link up with Ducati, Bosch & Ohlins.

  19. Chris, a friend of mine got his new MTS 1200 this year, the bike was less than 3 months old, his rear brake failed to hold the bike on an incline causing him to drop the bike at zero mph! The fade comes on suddenly and is dangerous, plus it would fail an MOT. This is not acceptable on any bike let alone a new bike! The model range is nearly three years old now (I stand to be corrected on the exact age) what are they waiting for, the warranties to run out so they can sting owners for repair costs? Its not acceptable to say all Ducati back brakes are crap! They shouldn’t be! My 31 year old zed thou has a better back brake!....Sorry rant over.
