Had a last ride on my '06 999S today before taking it in to px for one of the new water cooled BMW GS1200s and had such a great time on it I changed my mind and px'd my Triumph Thunderbird 1600 instead. Phew, that was close!
Lucky you managed to see the light before you sold it, i also have a 999s in my little collection and think there such an underrated bike by all standards and a great bike for a Sunday sunny day blast.
My 999s was off the road last summer thanks to a main bearing failure. I had a couple of days on an S1000RR and yes its quick.... But that's it, its very good at being fast and to me its not all about balls out top speed and 190+ BHP. I much prefer my 999s
A wise decision in my opinion, not that there is anything wrong with the Triumph but I think you would have missed the duke more!
Had a tour of Britain last year on KTM 990 Adventure. Lots of fun at 65mph fully loaded two up....pannier scraping. Would have one as well as the 999s......
