So at the end of August I get my renewal notice from Bennets to re insure my RD350 lc, £93.00 fully comp, oh and there's a DRZ400 enduro on that policy also Being a lazy twat I never got round to sorting it and it expired completely so I phoned them last week for a re quote and get them insured "certainly sir, the best quote we've got is £193.00" me "but that cant be right, it was £93.00 6 weeks ago and nothing has changed"? "but that's what the underwriters are coming back with and that's the best we can do, does seem a bit strange though"? Try as she might that was the best she could do, I've subsequently gone with another company at £90.00, just how can that be ? I just don't get it at all ??
I had the same when I added my Scrambler to my policy with Carole Nash. One day I was quoted £338 FC for the combined policy and TWO days later it was £563. I told the clerk to think again (several times) and they eventually came back with the combined policy of £289, so £49 better than the original I was quoted. However it did take over an hour and twenty minutes for me to get what I want just by being bolshy Thread moved btw
They are trying it on, Actual cost of renewal is £5 the rest is risk. Somewhere in their computer it calculates who is the best target for a touchup
I had a similar experience, my insurance expired whilst on holiday, not using the bike, new bank account so it couldn't renew automatically, contacted them and was told as it was 2 weeks they couldn't renew and I would have to start a new policy. So end result my renewal was 227 and the new policy 159 through the same broker ???? Kerching!
