In my opinion it looks much better than the Desert X, a bit more purposeful, still not convinced of the headlights but that's just my taste. All in a decent effort..
I love the look of it and would love to test ride one, but unfortunately I wasn't blessed with height so for me a seat height makes it a no go
How many people will actually take something like this off road anyway.. I reckon vast majority won't see dirt at all..unless bumping up a kerb somewhere
Looks good & much better than the initial incarnation; however, for serious off-road I think the KTM 890R is a much better, and robust proposition and at a more realistic price. The Desert X Rally is an expensive status symbol.
Looks great. Too tall for me and the price is restrictive. It's for those wanting to buy a top of the range bike, as every range tends to have. A great release in my opinion.
I think it looks great, but for the price, there are many other options out there. Especially as I don’t really ride off-road, unless the sat nav has a wobbly.
watched a video were they tested a desert x against the competition BMWs, Hondas etc and it came out on top, if i ditch the Pani it will be for a desert X
I have a middleweight adventure bike, and regularly take it off road (Tiger 900 Rally Pro). Whilst its expensive, I love the idea of a higher spec Desert X that is more off road focussed. The thing that I'm disappointed they didnt address is the screen, and means it wont be in my shortlist when I change my bike next year. I test rode a Desert X, and hated the buffeting from the screen (accepting that this can be quite relative to the persons size). That rules it out for me. RBW.
Maybe, but I'd rather buy a bike that fits me and works stock. Having a screen that buffets is just lazy from a manufacturers perspective and whilst its individual to the person there is a huge amount of feedback on this screen which spoils the bike. I've also seen a few people try different things with the screen, but none have been hallelujah moments. I had similar issues with the multistrada and the africa twin, but not with the triumph, it just works as stock and I can ride with the visor open. i dont think this is much to ask for someone who is 5'11".
I recognise your username from the GS forum; I’ve lost count of the number of folk on there that changed their screens, so it would seem that no manufacturer offers a decent screen for everyone, as standard.
I don't have a GS (never have), I have a Tiger and whilst Im sure people do change their screen on the latest Tiger, its not an issue for most and I loved both the previous gen and this gen Triumph OEM screens. I think its the 80/20 thing (or maybe 50/50 with screens) in that designing it for the majority with thought and care (and maybe a wind tunnel) means it will work for a good range of people. I dont think I've met many people that the stock Desert X screen works for without buffeting.
Fair enough. When I’m buying a bike, if the only thing I need to change is the screen, I don’t have an issue with that.
