The Face Of Scum

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Noble Ron, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. This is what your typical bike thieves look like in London.

They used a "fire control' key to open our communal garage and stole a resident's 5 hour old Vespa.

The fire key is the way the firemen would enter the garage for emergencies. They came in, had a look around, went away for an hour and came back with a helmet. They hot wired the brand spanking new scooter and rode off into the night.

The control key access has been disconnected and we have just had CCTV fitted due an earlier break in where this 25 year old guy smashed many windows and vandalised stuff in our garage.

We would have had no idea how these people entered the garage without any damage. We would have known a lot sooner, but we had a resident that was on an "I don't want to be filmed coming in and out of the building" bullshit.

Anyway, These guys changed jackets on their return to the garage. You always think you can protect yourself from these types of people, but you would not be able to do much with three guys.

As I was not directly involved I don't know the details of what is happening.

  2. So, what do they look like?

  3. And Fire brigade keys can be bought online very easily !!
We are in mobile telecoms and the lads need these for a lot of London sites for access. I still find it hard to believe that these keys are readily available.

  4. Bad luck for the break in mate. But if you are going to fit CCTV, then at least choose camera's capable of resolving a persons face. It never ceases to amaze me when we get shown CCTV stills on TV or in newspapers just how bad and useless the image quality often is. It really dosn't cost a lot for good quality camera's.

  7. Well, the pics are photos of a tv screen, which is never going to be crystal clear. The 'scum' also keep their heads down, so they know there's a camera there

  8. They could be the spitting image of the guys that lifted my Hyperstrada Sunday morning two grey hoodies pulled low and a black shiny hoody?
    Looks like they get around!

  9. An update. These guys came back the next night at 3am and took 2 helmets that were left inside another scooter and attached to some bodies bike. (No idea why they would leave stuff in there) I did ask for the gate to be disconnected and a combo chain attached to stop entry, I got told though that the gate would be fixed in Monday . This left it open to these guys for around 4 days!! The pleasure of living in a communal property!
Yeah these were taken on my phone off the screen. We are going to have the cameras looked at as they aren't really pointing in the right places at the moment. I'm not sure what can be done with the quality. They are pretty big cameras. They look pretty impressive to look at. These are chosen, fitted and paid for by the management agency, so probably bought to cost not quality. This doesn't help if they are going to cover their faces. It's like you need a hidden one lower down hidden away for a better shot.

Anyway. The hack had been closed now. I'm sure this has been going on for years as we have had random things happening with no forced entry.

  10. Without being prejudice, the guy in the white hood looks Indian to me.

  11. I would say an Police code IC6 or Arabic looking to me.

  12. I had a locksmith business for years and because it's not regulated all tools to unlock anything can be bought from any unscrupulous supplier. What's worse is youtube even teaching you how to use them!
All you can do nowadays is slow someone down.
