My bruv-in-law says the BSA Gold Star DB34 engine is the most beautiful ever created. My vote would go to the Vincent V twin. Vincent HRD | Flickr - Photo Sharing! If you could have a motorcycle engine as a piece of art in your home, from a purely aesthetic point of view, what would be your choice?
Always loved Vincents but I must say aesthetically they're a bit of a portly lump. Now consider the Ducati 750 round case bevel - the most elegant, lithe, sexiest engine ever.
Aw, c'mon Pete, they were a lovely bit of engineering especially when the engine was sitting on your bench. I would have said my 900 bevel, but the covers are a bit square.....
Agree on 750S bevel motor. Great looking thing. I always loved the Laverda 500 twins too. Alpina and Montjuich. Chunky compact things with close fins.
Here is mine. Bought in 1981, very dodgy, buy loved it. Been restored, not collected yet as you can see... it is beautiful, a tribute to Taglioni.
That would be a perfect match for me then as I am neither elegant, lithe or sexy. However, portly lump..............
original Kawasaki Z1 engine... In squared off form in the air cooled GPz range it was very pretty, too. (my own old bike, so i may be biased)
View attachment 14543 gotta say, my vote would go to the brough superior engine : ) , thats a work of art
