Weather looking good mid week I fancy a trip to the ring it's been 30 years so it's about time I made a flying visit 2/3 days max ,anybody up for it .
Is is a rideout, an event or a tour tho? There a trip bank holiday weekend with @MaDProFF and a couple of others @mvman
Theres always plenty of british people there, just remember in the week its usually booked till 5/6pm when its opened to anyone for a few hours. Weekends are public all day long. Enjoy
Check your insurance. 30 years ago nobody cared. Now a lot of policies exclude 'one-way toll roads in Germany'.
Some policies specifically exclude cover on the Nordschleife. If you are unfortunate enough to have an 'off' maybe get a local recovery firm to take you a long way away before ringing your insurance company... Obviously on the dodgy ground of insurance fraud if you do that though. The reason I only did one lap when passing by in 2011, didn't want to risk getting tangled in someone else's accident, two cars and one bike stuffed themselves into the Armco on that one lap alone. The recovery trucks do a good trade, can't recall how much they charge you to deliver the wreckage back to the car park but it's not cheap. You also get charged for Armco by the metre and lots more if they have to close the track. That's all a bit Eeyore though. Have a great time, keep one eye on the mirrors for the fast guys and indicate and move right to let them by is the one bit of advice I can give. Oh yes, also watch out for Adenauer Forst, a corner complex about 1/3 of the way round. About the only corner that came close to catching me out, a sharp left right after a crest.
Thanks guys but I have done the ring more recently ( last year to be exact ) but it was on four wheels ? 8min 23 s .(R500 caterham )
