Seems to be the norm right now. Magical Ducati prices. Maybe it's a little bit DFS so in April they can claim 2k off, when actually it was 2k over priced to start with.
I think dealers in general seem to be trying it on with prices regardless of what bike it is. I'm in the process of researching 1200 Bandits and some of the early ones are in dealers at stupid prices. Not just them either, anything at dealers seems to be massively overpriced just now.
Well, I think it is on the way up but not sure that's the reason for the high prices. Asking price and what the sell for are two different things. Obviousl the Ducatis are a different ballgame to the likes of the Bandit I mentioned though.
At the end of the day the market will decide their true value. The Bike Specialists grossly over priced the bikes and are in for a rude awakening. I'd sooner have a nice tidy BP for a reasonable sum than a Foggy rep or SP for an inflated price. Besides a BP is a better allrounder as you dont have to be feared too much about binning it. Theyre trying to create a specialist market where these bikes become collectors pieces to sit in hall ways. This is the antithesis of what these bikes are all about. These bikes are riders bikes to be ridden hard on track. To see them in some collectors hallways doing feck all is a shame. But I guess thats life.
I can't see the point in buying a zero mile bike. You pay a massive premium and can't use it as you'll wipe thousands off the value. Must be a frustrating experience.
It only makes sense if it's a model you really wanted new, but couldn't have it at the time for whatever reason. It gives you a second bite at the cherry. Granted though, you have to pay a monster premium for the pleasure, but that is what missing the boat is all about. If I had shed loads of cash, there are one or two Ducatis that would be nice to own from new, with zero miles on them. Virginal bikes.
Be like lying in bed with Cheryl Cole night without being able to throw a leg over. A highly frustrating experience
But a D16RR for £60k is ridiculous. Buy one with 3,000 miles on it for about half the money. You can at least use the bike and the £25k - £30k you'd have in your pocket would be much more satisfying.
