So I picked up my new 1098r last weekend. Was a bit busy so I stuffed it in the garage, packed the other bikes around it and got on with other chores. On Saturday I decided to see what it sounds like. At first it didn't want to start :frown: I was remembering another recent 1098r purchase that refused to start the first time the new owner wanted to give it a try. At least I wasn't planning to go for a ride. Fourth press on the button it fired up and quickly fell into the standard clattery tick-over we all know and love. Once the oil had a chance to get a bit thinner and cover all the surfaces I blipped the throttle. Oh MY GOD! In my experience with V's, especially twins, if you blip the throttle it is closed again before the engine realises that it is supposed to be doing something and responds by revving a little. Not with this Mo-fo. Just touch the throttle and it barks instantly. Soooo loud. Soooo urgent. Soooo scary But in the best way a bike has ever been 'scary'. You can just feel how light and smooth the components are so that it spins up so quickly. Probably never need to ride it. Mebbe I'll just start it and listen to it ever so often  Save me binning it on the track.
