Anybody had a a whole bunch pop up in the last few days? We have lots of the horrid things on side roads Not to mention the ones we already had that the council painted lines over because they couldn't be arsed to mend them! They painted yellow lines down into pothole and out other side :/ nice work . Take care as the snow and Ice going has set them off again
Yes I do .... Except the nice painted one I reported 4 times at one point ! 2 years later its still there!! They really are springing up again.
Did better round hear, they painted red cycle lanes over the potholes it makes them harder to see and causes cycles to swerve out of the cycle lane.
They've filled one in outside my house 4 times, it just gets worse every time. The roads are shit at the moment. Look out for the pothole campaign in the MCN ......................... every year without fail.
The repairs are dire sometimes!!!!! If they bother. lots of campaigns MCN and MAGs "Get a grip" but most effective if direct to your council!!!!! or DIY !! road it's like the moon. Potholes and still being charged for Dartford Tunnel and the worsening indicators??? What are they for / can't be arsed to use them is my big gripes

We are pretty lucky, Milton keynes has pretty decent toad surfaces with the exception of the M1 junction 14 which is quite litterally like off roading if you have come off southbound. Oh joy, I use it every day...
Well after a three and a half hour drive in rain, sleet and snow from Birmingham this afternoon, I get back to London in the dark, still raining, hit a seep sharp pothole, which shakes the whole car and the car started feeling sluggish. Thankfully I was 5 mins from home and when I got out, I could hear the air hissing out of the tyre.
how about this... driving to work last tuesday morning, narrow country road, 4x4 smugtank coming the other way, had to get as far over to the kerb as possible. BANG! What was filled to the brim with water was a pothole. 57" long, 18" wide and 8 - 12" deep. result, one alloy wheel now shaped like a 50p piece and a tyre which was totally obliterated, and a sill panel with a crack in it. had I been on the bike, I probably would have been taking my meals through a straw in the orthopaedics ward. Thanks Surrey county council, and the donkeys Ringways who you keep contracting the road maintenance contract to yes, that's a 1m wooden rule next to it. Just getting a full quote (wheel and tyre already at £670) for all the damage from the main dealers and then putting my claim in.
Let me know how it goes, Im going to go and take a photo tmrw, hopefully the wheel is okay, but judging by the noise it made, i doubt it
when you do Matt, take a plank of wood with you. I took measurements of length width and depth, lay the plank along it and then take the pics of the measurement of the tape measure drop into the hole for depth. Just get all the evidence you can, and quotes for new. If you're lucky your tyre just suffered a tear, but a wheel balancer will be able to tell you if the wheel is still round or not.
If your unfortunate enough to hit a pothole and suffer damage its worthwhile checking on fixmystreet and the highways pothole pages to see if any one else has reported the fault, if it has been reported and the council have failed to take any action they are liable for damages.
