1200 Thinking Of A Change

  1. Enjoyed the Multi. 10k problem free miles and 2 Alps trips in a year and a half.
Have to admit that as good as the MTS is, it can hustle, it doesn't handle as sharp as a sport bike (obvious design limitations). Think I must be a hooligan at heart, wanting more :Angelic:

2015 could see me on either S1000R sport or a V4 Tuono. Thoughts on these two bikes, anyone tried both?
I perceive the BMW as being more comfy and more economic, the Aprillia as more mental with a bit of thirst! Corner speed and agility probably very similar..

  2. About how my mate described it, and the prilia was smoother and easier to use on the fly

He just bought a prilia ;)

  3. Ive hada tuono v4 aprc , lacks a bit of the low down grunt a vee twin has , goes balistic after 7000 rpm , great handeling , best sound track ever , quick shifter superb , strange looking front end , mega heavy on fuel ....worst bike on mpg ive ever had ....but worth it , wouldnt class it as a back lane bike ,needs more flowing faster roads to wind itself up on

  4. If it's anything like my old Tuono's you will need a pair of pliers to remove the seat from your arse after 100 miles.... great bikes though.

  5. Have you thought about a KTM 1290?

  6. Only tried S1000R sport, engine and adaptive suspension are sublime. "Feels" really fast due to lack of protection, won't wear out the front tyre as it's always trying to aviate!

  7. Go the Beemer.

  8. The suspension package would probably be the deciding factor. No point in ''trying'' to go fast but being held up by suspension that only works on a smooth road or a track. My old FZ1s was prime example, quick and capable (with new shocker) but the suspension was too harsh for cornering on bumpy roads.
Count, the KTM looks awesome, however the 1 year warranty and to an extent, the cost puts me off. Looks like it could double up as two up bike though if its not too extreme!

  9. I've had the Tuono V4 and very very nearly bought a 2nd one when they bought out the abs (larger tank version)

Fantastic bike and unbeatable soundtrack.....but......it's not something you can't really just plod along on like the multi or anywhere near as compliant on anything other than smooth roads.

Don't get me wrong, it's a phenomenal bike, but the mrs only made it about 2 miles in total without wanting to get off the rock hard rear and so unfortunately it meant that 2nd purchase ended there.

The S1000r is also a stunning bike to ride, better torque than the RR and IMO sounds a little better, kinda burbles nicely.

Suspension excellent, very road compliant and no doubt just as good on track. Probably a better 2 up bike as the seat is more level and the suspension can easily be adjusted for pillions.

Dosnt make me feel quite as tingly as the V4 but I can honestly see me owning one for a season or two on my next bike change, either that or I'll go for a 1290 sd when so pop up 2nd hand as I think £15k is too much for me

  10. Have you thought about the Diavel? That's a hooligans bike ;)

  11. Webmaster...excommunicate these blasphemous rumours that anything could match the mighty MTS1200

  12. Oh I dunno.........a C90 is similar ;)

  13. In the same way a fsie is similar to an 899

  14. "Outrageous" Like ACT I agree, this is not acceptable, someone owning an MTS suggesting it doesn't compute....
What is wrong with you JB, you must of an un-certain age:rolleyes:
As we get slightly, note the word, slightly older, we need cosseting and more comfort, NOT less and I think I can ride reasonably promptly I'll have you know, even though I am the only one saying this:eek:
    AND I love Ape's, 'coz I've got one, a Mille Edwards don't you know.:Wtf:
