Hey guys, looking for advice from anyone whos owned or ridden a hypermotard. I have an rr7 fireblade right now and as much as I love it I think I want something different. I've had a monster620 and a 749 in the past and love Ducati's. I ride it to work most days and get out for spins in the mountains the odd weekend. I bring the missus sometimes, I want to more but the blade is not the best bike for a pillion. Shes too high up and far back. I fancy something differen now and I'm thinking of a Hypermotard - i hear they are great fun, should be ok with a pillion. I'd love a Multistrada but the problem is I'm a shortarse at only 5'6 and I just think it would be too big for me. How high is the Hypermotard and will I be ok? One other downside is the side of the tank - how many miles will it get to a tank? Thanks
Ive got a 2010 Hypermotard .... never thought they could be so much fun miles better than a sports bike and the grunt out of roundabouts and corners leaves you grinning like a 10 year old !
I run a 2014 bike , so the new shape and I totally love it. I've lost track of the amount of bikes ive had , pretty much all sports bikes and spent ages thinking what to get . After several years off bikes I wanted a bike that I could use , not just look at or break a lap record so the 821 was tested and bought. Honestly it's been a revelation. Yes it took a bit to get used to the riding position and cornering style but once that was done I would not , under any reasons go back to a full on sports bike. I can do around 140 miles I think on my bike to a tank , something like that. Pillion is great from my wife to my young boys for a bit of fun. Yes im a bit taller than you at 6ft2 but I honestly think you'd be ok , and if you feel a little unsure then a low seat from Ducati will fix that. Honestly , I rate my bike very very highly even if I take off my owner classes !!
I'm sure I've seen plenty of short arses on Multistradas ? I thought the seat was higher on a Hypermotard than a Multi due to it being a Supermoto style bike. What about a Hyperstrada, looks like the best of both worlds?
Ducati link to tech spec Hyperstrada seat height is only 810mm which is the same as @MissPineapple GSXR and she's about 5ft 2 of dwarf. Hypermotard seat height is a towering 870mm which is BFG height Multistrada is Adjustable 825 - 845 mm. 825mm is probably fine for you I'd have thought?
Yes , but with centre stand , slightly higher bars ( I think ) and a couple of power points. Rest is almost 100% the same. Apart from dragging the stand a few times mine will keep with the normal 821's , but left behind by the Sp's due to their better suspension * * but all SP riders are dog slow so actually it makes no difference...............
I get about 120 miles out of a tank on the 821 SP before the warning light comes on, and at 6' 1" I'm on the balls of my feet at a halt (with the Ducati sports seat fitted). If you're in the Portsmouth area you can try mine for size if you want.
I'm 6.2 and fit on it a treat .... yes the handling takes some getting use to but once diled in its great. No chicken strips on the rear well feathered and even i run 34psi front and rear and it works for me. I've decided will keep it next year then i want the 1098 streetfighter ... Ducati for me from now on
I'm 5'9" with a 29" inside leg and can just about cope with the 939 sp, I've got the lowered seat fitted but it makes next to bugger all difference as the width of the seat is also a factor. From memory my sp has a seat height of 890mm!!! I've covered 1750 miles now and am totally at ease with the height now, just took some getting used to. I take my 9yo daughter on the back using a set of love handles (there is nothing at all to hold on to) and she loves it. Do yourself a favour and take one for a demo ride, it's the most comfortable and most fun bike I have ever ridden!!!
