Hey guys. Looking at getting a hypermotard. It requires the belt change. How much would that set me back? Also is there a service manual for a 2010 1100 hyper??? thanks
Do it! Not as much as a 4V Yes, it's on CD available from Dealer but no doubt rip off ones on the internet somewhere
If the 1100 Hyper had a larger fuel range then it'd be the perfect all rounder ........ but then it'd take sales away from Ducatis more lucrative bikes (Mutley!) so no way they'd change it? 5k miles and 2 yrs is nothing for a 2V engine .......... I know that's recommended intervals but it's not disastrous to go double both of those (cue the doom-mongers with their "Oh the world will end if you go more than 2 years" etc.... NO IT WONT). As for cost; the belts aren't stupidly expensive (IIRC even Kevlar ones are c£70 pr) and fitting is well within the capabilities of a basic home mechanic ....
Have you sat on the bike? At 5'11" I can't reach the floor on them! Belt change on a 2v motor is a 30minute job, max! Someone on here may do it for beer?
Do the belts on my 2008 1100S myself as it's actually really easy. Just gotta watch the valve service and other little "gotchas" if you're doing it all yourself. Coming up to 20k miles and still going strong - on the original chain and brake pads!
Iv test ridden a hyper 796. That seemed fine. But I'm going to go test the 1100 next week. Cheers for the info guys.
Regarding service / costs, where abouts are you in the UK as I might be able to put you onto someone.........
