This is the end. My beautiful friend. The end

  1. I've owned 2 1000 Multi's over a period of the last 7 years and have never thought about life without one. Until now.

I keep my bike in a shed and we are surrounded by woods which makes that shed a damp environment. Most of the paint has come off the engine, the spring on the rear shock has rusted, one of the forks is rotting and the tank has expanded so much that the side panels no longer fit flush. It looks a mess and I've fallen out of love with it and hardly ever ride it any more.

The bike has few aftermarket parts, other than a Chinese decat pipe, a carbon hugger and oxford heated grips.

I have serviced it as dictated by ducati and mechanically it's sound.

When we move to a house with more bike friendly storage I will, no doubt buy an 1100.
My question is would I get more money for it by stripping it and selling the parts separatley or should I sell it as a running, MOT'd, taxed bike.

  2. IMO you'd get more by stripping it. That's if you have the patience to do it and wait for the cash.

  3. Sorry to read that you'll soon be just plain Mental. Hope you get the house to suit the next bike soon :upyeah:

    1100 or 1200?

  4. Why of why now. A month ago I would have taken the engine, injectors plus electronics and swing-arm like that and now no can do no money.

Split it but make sure you sell the DS engine as hole as they fetch stupid money in one piece anyhow and many want them for projects/builds.

I will however offer you a pint of beer for the engine.

  5. Looks like I'll have to cycle to the next Waterside meet on my new Felt.

  6. Your offer is tempting. The trouble is one pint is always followed by another and before you know it you're singing and telling people that you love them.

  7. chainsaw...night vision goggles....

  8. Actually that would be a really good MTB ride. Make sure you take Grims Ditch (Ridgeway) to Wallingford and then along the Thames. Ride back would be tough though

  9. I've got a 1000 Multistrada too, and the reason it spends a lot of time in the shed is because it won't fuggin' behave itself:mad:

    Get a nice Honda.
