Bit of advice please... Been doing a bit of searching as have had QD's for about a year now and have not bitten the bullet on going for the full on CJS remap (159bhp at the wheel?) or just fitting Fatducs. So would appreciate a bit of first hand advice on what has worked best from others with QD's as time to eliminate low rev starvation and overrun farts
I have the full QD and using a Rexxer update for the ECU. IMO the best config you can have. You can now drive at much lower revs in high gears - if you need it ...down to 2000 rpm in 3rd or 4th gear is no problem. You have more punch and willingness to rev in the middle and even more power on top. In one of the german forums was a print available of the power-rev diagramm with the original, the arrow and the QD with Rexxer map. That's the most powerful combination...and in IMO it looks very cool...the sound is pretty damn nice!
I run QD's with fatducs - runs really pretty smoothly - still get the odd backfire which I like - i have changed the front sprocket to a 14 to other too
I run the QDs with FatDucs too...smooth as you like, and pretty decent on the fuel... I'm still getting 36mpg in the twisties. Like Bob, I run with the baffles in...it's perhaps a touch on the loud side without, but veeeery lovely. If only I lived out in the sticks.. ;-)
Cheers all, so far the Fattys are winning the feedback vote (quite appropriate really :biggrin will see what else comes before parting with the readies
QD,s and fatducs are a great combo, that's what I had before I went the CJS remap route, couldn't resist !! Yup mine showed 159 bhp at the back wheel, I wouldn't say it's a massive performance gain on the road, only perhaps when u are really gunning it in the higher rev range But it is defernitly smoother throughout the rev range in all gears Suppose you got to ask yourself is it worth the extra money..? And only you can answer that...?
I'd agree with that... If you can afford it, a custom map is the only way to go. It will be the best you can get, but you have to pay for it. Can you get reasonably "close" with the FatDucs? Yes. As a minimum, getting rid of the cat works wonders, as does stopping the action of the exhaust valve. Then you are incrementally spending more usually to get more. If you search, there are all sorts of solutions out there to suit most budgets.
I run mine without DB killers and with FatDucs. Late 2011 Pikes Peak. It's a good 'un too. Transformed its sub 3000k performance. Nearly as smooth as perfect so couldn't justify a Rexxer or similar. Maybe the DP air filter helps (see other thread). Yet to be dyno'ed once she's fully run in but she's already ripped my right shoulder muscle nicely by cracking open the throttle in Touring and killing my left elbow with tennis elbow as I hang (for grim death) on in Sport As I said I run mine without DB killers so you'll have to speak up laddie. What's that? Speak up I said....
David D - having a day in the Peaks tomorrow ( Friday) and wonder if any chance of viewing your QD's. Just in case you are around? Have sent you a PM
David D Thanks and yes "bit of a trek"! May be back in touch another time- I am based near Cambridge.
